Is Sprint Good or Bad?

I've been with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. I do favor the GSM openness over the carrier-controlled CDMA technology. However, when I had Verizon for a year, I was pleasantly surprised at the great support and extremely good coverage. Right now I'm using AT&T and not on a contract.

I would like to read some comments from those of you on Sprint. Sprint's rates are favorable compared to Verizon's, but I have still heard horror stories on bad support and bad network coverage.

Before I jump on the Sprint bandwagon, what do you like and not like about Sprint?

I have had great customer support and service. I also get fairly good signal (terrible signal with ATT). I save a ton of money after switching as well.

No negatives from me.

I was with ATT since 99 or so and with sprint since October. I never realized how bad ATT was until I left.

OK, that's good news. What about roaming areas? Any dead zones you encounter?

I have used AT&T, Verizon, Nextel (pre-merger) and now Sprint for the last approximately 3 years. I never cared for AT&T when I was with them. Their coverage for me was marginal at best with numerous dropped calls and relatively high pricing options.

I really liked Verizon when I was was with them. The major draw back for me with them is simply, price.

I have really have nothing bad to say about Sprint. I have heard stories about poor customer service, but I have never had the misfortune of experiencing any thing of the sort. I have thankfully had only great experiences.

As for roaming and dropped calls.... Sprint has a contract with Verizon to roam on their towers. I hardly ever lose service and can count on one hand how many dropped calls I've experienced.

While Sprint has a great line-up of phones available, the one drawback I see is that AT&T and Verizon do have a leg up in the latest and greatest department simply due to their respective sizes.

Hope this helps.

as of this moment i have sprint there customer service is really good and plans even better. my only problem is there coverage i drop calls every day. now that is because i live in south dakota and they arent really looking at expanding into rual areas just roam on verizons towers and that is what i was told by a sales manager at the local sprint store so they are very honest and hey honesty is what counts. now that is fine with your normal voice and text plan but bad when you are trying to use apps like facebook, voicemail and other more advance features. i am going to be leaving sprint in the upcoming months i have found there services to be great but with going to more rual areas more and more i fnd the phone draining the battery faster and dont see wimax coming here for at least 5 years or so, and when they do im not looking at it as being any better since wimax isnt going to have the range since it operates at a higher frequency so more indoor roaming here which i already encounter every day.

When I was a Verizon customer, the customer service was irritating at best. If you were fine with Verizon's CS, you will love Sprint's CS. As a Sprint customer, I have the option of roaming onto Verizon towers if the Sprint towers are not available. Roaming is free on my plan. The phone that I have, the Sprint Hero is the same as Verizon's Eris. Both are great phones. However, Sprint's service is a better bargain compared to Verizon, a must have in this economy.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as with carbn14, actually word for word to be exact. I've never had a problem with Sprint and although in numerous Sprint forums you will hear horror stories, some of which I feel are more due to the customer rather than Sprint. Here in NYC I have better coverage than any other carrier, and their plans are overall cheaper, and if I need CS, I always get someone that goes above and beyond to help me out.
The only drawback I see with Sprint is the coverage may differ in your locale, thereby making another carrier better. Their selection of phones waver at times, one moment they have the latest and the next they don't. (But that goes with any carrier). Another drawback is their lack of international signal, you simply can't use your phone overseas due to its technology. Although rumor has it that a few phones down the pike are coming with dual capability to do so.
Either way you have at least 30 days to decide if I am not mistaken to try out the phone, service, etc.

Atually you can use one of the BlackBerries at Sprint in Europe, Asia, etc, as it is a dual GSM/CDMA phone.I wonder what Sprint's Internatinal roaming rates are though. I know with the iPhone , no matter what, that it's 199/minute-NOT. If eve go back to Europe and need a phone, its easier and cheaper to just rent/buy a prepaid phone to use. Sprint and (CDMA) sound much better than GSM ,at least in the US. Only issue with CDMA is that, as of now, unfortunately, the increasingly annoying, and deceptive Ads from ATT, do have one valid point- with GSM you can use Data and Voice at the same time. However, you couldn't PAY me to switch to ATT just for an iPhone. If Sprint is smart, they are in negations to ge the iPhone before Verizon. Otherwise, I see Sprint getting bought by somebody.

I had Sprint since 1998 and rairly had any problems. When I did have a problem I would call cs and the issue would be resolved fairly quickly and with out hassle. I then jumped ship for the first gen Iphone and hated ATT so much that I was out of there with in the first year, ate the etf and went back to sprint. Sprint's CS and pricing is by far the best in my experience. Plus if you need to roam you have verizon to roam on for free.

I've had sprint for about 10yrs. Never had major issues. I now manage an account with about 15 lines and two data cards for about $1200/mo. Couldn't do that on AT&T or Verizon. Get good customer service for the most part, and it has improved overr the past 3-4yrs. Coverage is fine. Haven't seen any that are perfect, and most bad signal areas around philly seem to affect eveyone not just sprint. At&T seems to have some penetration in areas where I lose signal, but my friends on it seem to complain about call problems more than everyone I know on verizon and sprint combined.

Don't know why people get fanboyish about it. I'm jealous verizon gets updated webOS phones, as I'd like to give the Pre another try since I'm not 100% sold on android yet. But maybe Palm has a nice 2nd gen in the works for a spring or summer release.
