After a looong research, & after not finding a gingerbread ROM for Galaxy Fit, I had almost given up my hopes to see 2.3.3 gingerbread on my Galaxy Fit. Well... almost!!!

Finally managed to get my hands over OFFICIAL Samsung 2.3.3 ROM for G-Fit. Samsung will eventually release 2.3.3 for Fit in India but that will probably take a long time. But if you don't want to wait, following is the way...

This is the very SHORT guide for Advanced users only. Do your own research & understand every step before you do it. I will probably update detailed steps when I get some time.

1: Goto samfirmware.com Galaxy Fit page:
Login - www.SamFirmware.com

2: Download the 2.2 FROYO ROM labelled S5670XXKB1 (This is a russian ROM but you can easily change language to English)

3: Flash the ROM over your current one with help of ODIN. Follow the guides at samfirmware.com

4: Install the latest version of Samsung Kies 2.0.0.11044-11
Link: Download Samsung Kies 2.0.0.11044_11 Free - Search, browse, download and manage apps for mobile devices - Softpedia

(Install on a OS other than windows 7, as firmware update does NOT work on win7. Xp worked for me.) You may also have to install .net framework 4 & windows media format 11. Search for the links on google.

5: Connect your Galaxy Fit with S5670XXKB1 & Kies will popup message a new firmware is available.

Firmware details : S5670XXKPF (GINGERBREAD.XXKPF)

6: Follow the steps to update firmware through Kies.

7: Change the language back to English from Russian.

Steps to root your 2.3.3 Gingerbread :

Note. SuperOneClick or any other similar apps don't work. So don't try them.

Before going through the precess of rooting you have to download a small file named upd_1.zip

Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

1: Once you have downloaded the file copy it to your SD card. For ease of work copy it in root of SD card.

2: Switch off your handset and wait till the vibration is over.

3: Now switch the phone in recovery mode. Press and hold Power button + middle menu button together to start in recovery mode.

4: Once you are in recovery mode you will get lot of options on screen. In recovery mode touchscreen does not work, so use the volume up/down buttons to toggle through options. To confirm options press the middle button.

5: Go to the second option i.e apply update from SD card.

6: Upon selecting the second option you will need to select the fileupd_1.zip. Press the middle button to apply changes.

7: It takes 2-3 seconds to install the update.

8: Once the above step is complete, reboot your system from the first option.

9: As the phone reboots you will have super user in it. Your phone is rooted now.

Guys please help me!

This update file that gets it rooted is my problem ,i think.

So how do you unroot it after rooting 2.3 version using upd_1 file????

Also the wifi and bluetooth is not working in this version.

Plus usb debugging mode has problems. We cannot activate USB mode from mobile for some reason and only kies works for connection through usb.

Why the heck is that!?

Anyone else have this problems?
