Inspire vs Atrix vs Infuse

Possible new AT&T customer here, coming from Sprint with Samsung Epic (captivate's sprint flavor).

I'm not 100% thrilled with my Epic. It is sometimes laggy and freezey. But it has a beautiful samoled screen and gorilla glass.

Things I am hoping for in a new phone:

~Equally beautiful screen
~Gorilla glass
~Stability!!!! No need for battery pulls!!!!
~Good camera, and hopefully a front facing one, too..I have used mine only a few times but I like having it
~Dedicated camera button

I know this is also bringing into the equation the manufacturers..HTC vs Motorola vs Samsung..I know HTC is well regarded, but what about Motorola?

Before you waste money on a new phone, you may as well mod your current one to fix said lags and freezes

It's rooted and running a custom rom (second rom I've tried. First one would work for a day and then brick the phone). My phone just doesn't like me. lol

I have to buy a new phone anyway if I'm switching carriers.

I used an Atrix for about a month until I had to switch back to Verizon because my phone was not ringing at home. Amazing phone but if you want a phone that has a nice screen this is probably not the phone for you. The colors are kind of off but the phone ran stable for me. There is a bug in the newest software that I don't believe has been fixed yet that causes the fingerprint scanner to stop working until the phone gets rebooted. Its really annoying.

The Infuse is probably a good choice. I am using a Charge and it has been great so far. The Screen is amazing and the Infuse has a bigger version of the display. The Atrix is the faster phone overall though unless the extra 200 mhz goes a lot further then I would think.

The Inspire is good if you can get it cheap enough. Go compare them and see what you like the best. The Infuse might be too big for you so if that is the case the Atrix might be a better choice.

The infuse is a huge phone and if you put a case on it forget it it's not going in any pocket. The screen is wonderful but I'm sticking with my inspire. The atrix seemed to little small to me I like the screen size of the inspire. Also you can get an inspire for like $0-30 best buy was doing free Radioshack was $30 just got to google and you will find it pretty cheap.

Screen quality would be infuse then inspire then atrix (IMO)

As for stability i haven't had to do a battery pull to fix my inspire. I did a lot of battery pulls on my captivate to fix freezing, Internet connection problems etc

Atrix and infuse have a ffc inspire does not. The camera on the inspire takes some tinkering to get the settings right for indoor pics but outdoor is fine with really no fussing.

None of these phones have a dedicated camera button

Size wise, to me, Epic is a big phone! 4.90 x 2.54 x 0.56. 4" display. I just pulled up Infuse dimensions. 5.20 x 2.80 x 0.35. Dang, it is big! But much slimmer. I'd have to hold it to get an idea if I like that or not. Once I got used to the size of the Epic, I actually have thought I wouldn't mind a bigger screen for web browsing.

My phone is currently overclocked by 200mhz, and I honestly do not notice a difference. I would, however, prefer a dual core over a single, but...I'm open..

It's really awesome.

Most all the reviews rate this as the best of all smartphones. I concur.

Since your coming from a Samsung device the Infuse should seem the most familiar to you. and the Super Amoled Plus screen is second to none on it. it's also a relatively quick device. i've never actually owned one but i've handled it a few times and the only thing that bothers me about it is Samsungs TouchWiz UI, it just seems little more bloated than HTC Sense.
But i would recommend the Inspire if you want an all around good device. even for a 1ghz single core phone it's very quick, and HTC sense is a very pleasant UI to use with Android. The Camera is also excellent and rivals my current Point and Shoot in picture quality. but although the screen isn't as vibrant as the Infuse it gets the job done.

My familiarity with Samsung is exactly why I want to jump ship. This phone is nothing special at all sans the samoled. Now other devices are using gorilla glass as well. That would've been the only other plus for me.

I have always liked htc due to their build quality, samsung phones seem cheaply made to me. Also, the screen on the inspire is very nice. I think it is the best choice for the money.

My biggest issue with the Evo (actually, my only issue) was poor screen quality, especially compared to Epic and other Galaxy S phones. So, when you say the screen on Inspire is very nice, is it a big improvement from Evo? Any other comparisons you can give? Thanks.

I went to a Radio Shack since there is no AT&T store in my town and looked at Atrix and Inspire. Inspire is a big phone! There's no way I could go with Infuse. So I'd say it comes down to Inspire and Atrix.

They only had demo units, not ones I could actually play with or even see the real screen. So all I could do was hold them. :-/

The Atrix is an awesome phone. There is a video out showing it running the new version of blur found on the droid x/x2 with the Gingerbread update. The only downside to the phone was blur, the locked bootloader and the screen. With the new version of blur its not perfect but its a hell of a lot better then the old blur. I really like the notification bar. I would still be using an Atrix had att not been so bad in my area. For the same price I had to go back to Verizon where I get awesome lte speeds and my phone actually rings instead of going straight to voicemail. I would take the Atrix over the inspire anyday.

It is not your phone not liking you. It is just the way Samsung is. Samsung is the gold standard in how unreliably a cell phone can be.

In my experience, yes, you're right. I do at least one battery pull a week. But the screen is BRILLIANT. It would be hard to get used to something else. Which is one big reason for me to lean toward Atrix. People seem to like it much better than Inspire's.

I've got an HTC Inspire which I really really like. Just came in is Samsung Infuse but if you can hang on they are suppose to be getting galaxy s2 names Samsung Attain and its supposed to be a great phone and the screen is supposed to be great.

I would advise forgetting about a dedicated camera button. It limits your choices by a lot. You would get used to not having one. To use my camera, I swipe up on my screen, and to take self pics, I use toe timer on my camera.

I just think it's stupid not to have one when there is plenty of space on the phone. The Inspire has no buttons at all on the right side. Place a button on the bottom right, and when you are holding your phone to take a pic, your index finger is there anyway. Epic's camera button lets you hold down partially to focus, then all the way to take the picture.

I just don't understand why they would NOT have a dedicated camera button on any high end device, especially when there is plenty of room for it.

In my opinion, the screen on the inspire is a big improvement. I don't know how it compares to an atrix, I've never owned one. Are you close to an att corporate store? I'm sure they'll be happy to let you play with both.

If I could switch carriers today and pick any phone that's OUT RIGHT NOW, I would go for the LG G2X on T-Mobile.

Faster 4G (21mbps)
Cheaper monthly bill

All of these trump the Atrix, sans the Dual core Tegra 2 that they have in common. That being said, the one good thing about AT&T is that you can upgrade once every 12 months with a qualifying plan.

If it must come down to current AT&T phones, here's the deal

ATRIX:

Dual Core
1GB RAM
Better battery life
Front facing cam
16MB internal storage
HDMI
Higher resolution screen
Fingerprint sensor
More compact

Inspire:

Much better camera
Bigger screen
Better build quality


The only weaknesses of the ATRIX are the screen (I find the colors to be fine, but the viewing angles are poor. Is the Inspires screen any better? Maybe very slightly.), camera (OK, but leaves MUCH to be desired), and plastic build quality (it is very comfortable to hold in hand, though).

Personally, I'd go with the ATRIX. Not just because I own one.

Sort of. 35 minute drive to one. I have a Radio Shack, though, so I got to hold the phones, but couldn't see real screens.

I know I'm going to be unhappy with the screen, coming from a SAMOLED screen. But I'd like the best one I can get and still be on a reliable, stable phone.

I had two Atrix's. Both horrible when it came to connectivity. A red circle slash was a common signal strength. I believe that Motorola has put out a phone that is lacking in the antena/radio for the 1900mhz spectrum which is pretty much in universal use in FL by ATT. Beyond that both of the Atrix's ran unbelievably hot. Also the display for a QHD display was thourghly average.
I switched to the Infuse. This IS a big phone. But this comes with a few pluses. One I never lose signal. Not one dropped call or shut down of connctivity yet. The screen is absolutely amazing. And to cap it of I find this phone to be every bit as fast as the Atrix.

With all due respect, you are wrong.

Samsung has made great gains since the intro of the Galaxy S, and continues to get even better with the Galaxy S II I have. These are excellent phones.

As far as all the repetitive bashing of Samsung by many here in the forum, so read anything long enough and it's human nature that one is going to start to believe it.

I do not work for Samsung, nor am I advocating for them. I am simply setting the record straight. Are they perfect? NO. Are they excellent? Yes.

Far too many people on this forum, that have very little Android experience, seem to think they are experts and know more than the highly skilled engineers that build these phones.

They blame Samsung for update delays when it's not even Samsung's fault. There is a lot to it and I'm not going to spend the next 30 minutes outlining all the details.

I will tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Samsung is going to continue to be a very big player in this market.

Sometimes the biggest corporations can do some really stupid things. Not including a dedicated camera button is one of them.
