I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy Prevail, and am looking to make some enhancements. The first thing I want to do is see if there is a way of increasing my Prevails internal memory by getting it to also used my sd card. I have a 16gb card in the phone now. I have been reading about people partitioning the memory card, and wanted to know if that works. I have seen videos with people doing it with a computer, and people doing it right from their phones with something call ROM Manger. Can someone tell me if partitioning your sd will work and the best way to do it. If not than maybe someone can point me in the right direction ?

Until the phone rom has support built in for using a ext3 partition on the sd you will not be able to take advantage of it.

When the guys get a custom recovery out that will allow you to flash new roms then they can start tweaking roms to put on the phone. So for now you just have to live with what you have.
Have patience a month brings great changes look at this phone for example just barely over a month out and its rooted.

you can now. just make a new partition in FAT32(with any partion manger program, I used easeus") and DL an app called link2SD from the market with a rooted cell. with that you can move all your apps to the SD and never worry about internal memory. before i rooted n did this i barely had any internal mem. i was at 16-6MB. now i'm at 54.78mb and have twice as many apps. got 2 mmorpgs, all 3 angry birds which = to atleast 100mb counting the updates. its awesome!

i was a bit skeptical at first but, i must say that link2sd is all that!

the only problem so far is getting it to behave with titanium backup and flashing mods n' stuff, but once you get it properly setup it is awesome, you are right

and just about a week ago i was actually thinking app2sd was pretty cool, not even close

and don't even get me started on how quirky titanium is with moving stuff to sd, still trying to figure out how to make it run smoothly, but even when using it thoroughly it still doesn't produce much better results than app2sd or stock system moving

link2sd FTW

shabby should integrate this into his mod

What a great tip this is.
I place over two dozen apps on a 4 gig card partitioned 3 gigs for apps and my internal driver is only using 67mb. Woohoo

Im new at this, however Im looking forward to a smoother running prevail. I plan on installing Shabbymod and partitioning my sd. Ive had my prevail for over a month so I already have many apps; too many to move to the phones memory before I partition, so , what is the best way to go about doing all of this..... Partition then shabbymod? Can I copy the entire sd then past to a desktop folder and expect to have all of my apps upon completion.. Thanks for any advice/help.

ShabbyMod is working great for me......:)

I used MiniTool Partition Wizard 7, and was able to create a partition on my SD Card without losing any of the existing data on the card...just left it there, and it created a new primary for me (1GB of a 8GB card)......

Existing Apps can be moved over to the new partition by Link2SD after you install it.....and all new Apps will be installed to the new SD with SuperUser access.....
