Must-Have apps for the EVO 3D

Hmm...AudioGalaxy lets you stream from other's public servers? That right there is enough reason for me to give it a shot, just to try to find some new artists/albums I may like. Although, I question if that's legal to do. It seems like it would fall under a broadcasting law and have a license requirement/loyalty payment.

Yes, correct. Recently the push began in congress to make that a federal felony with a 10 year imprisonment price tag.

I am not making that up.

If that law passes, expect the landscape of sharing to change radically, again.

~~~~
BTW - another one of my favorites - Congress, free in the Market.
Keep track of your congress-critters' votes, stay current on laws that affect you, and get easy and immediate access to email or call your congress-critters while you surf.
Make our system work and have your voice heard - Congress.
I thought that was the whole issue with imbedding youtube videos in webpages (that are not youtube)? Or is the youtube thing a specific issue that is included in that?
Not totally sure of the legality so you may be right. it doesn't use the standard app when you stream someone else's music. It loads to youtube or your internet browser to play. With that said I let one of my friend have the password to my account as well as my fiance so they have access to my server through the app.
I like the Congress app and Politico. Great for quick reading if you're in doctor's office lounge area or waiting at the kids practice, lol.
Oh another thing every Android user should have:
Google Authenticator
Considering that your Google account is everything to your phone (contacts, calendar, personal info), it really makes sense to activate the 2-click verification. It's really easy to set up. It takes 5-10 mins. Just log into your Gmail, go to Account Settings and it's right there in the security options.
I second this.
A month or so ago my gmail was 'hacked' in to and they sent a bunch of spam to my entire contact list. Even after changing the password they were still able to get in.
Now with the Google Authenticator the problem is gone. Too many hoops for them to jump through.
In some states, this is illegal, FYI. I think PA just adopted it. The issue came up with Netflix. Now Netflix only allows streaming to one device/machine at a time to avoid the legal headaches.
So I would keep that info close.
Edit: Which makes me think that Google Music is going to be smacked here in the relatively near future for the same reason.
I'd like to put in my suggestion for best keyboard: SwiftKey
It's a normal qwerty keyboard that accurately predicts what word you are going to type next, or guesses it after just one or two letters. it learns from all the text messages you send.
One of my favourite apps because it just makes typing soo much quicker. I much prefer it to swype! :)
Google Music will make Audiogalaxy obsolete. Trust me, it's incredible.
I'm not really sure how it could blow it out of the water unless the player has some crazy nice features. Audiogalaxy has been around a long time so I don't think it'll ever be obsolete espcially being free. You also don't need an invite of any sort to enjoy the service. With that said some of the features of Subsonic have me using it as well and I actually paid for that app. The cool features about subsonic include streaming personal videos from your server, streaming your music with several different bitrate options, queuing up songs in advance that are loaded to SD card and customizable streaming options. At the end of the day if the google app turns out to be a keeper then I'll probably use all 3 apps.
There are pros and cons to each system. Everyone who wants to stream their own music to their devices should check out both (given you get an invite to GMusic) and see what fits their own style the best. For some, it'll be AudioGalaxy. Others, GMusic. It's the same argument that we toss back and forth for many different products/services.
I finally got my google music beta invite. I think I requested it over two months ago. I have about 5k songs. 13 hours later it's not even half way uploaded. Hopefully they'll work that kink out. Couple the cloud with the google android music player and it's a nice app. It still has some work to do before it's on the auidogalaxy and subsonic level, but I will continue to use along with those apps.
I posted this in the Introduction forum and was suggested to create a thread in this forum because there wasn't one. so here goes.
Google Maps
Facebook
Youtube
Pandora
Angry Birds
Task Killer
Flash Player
Tiny Flashlight (hopefully i can decide upon if i want to use both LED's on the EVO 3D)
Movies (Flixster)
GasBuddy
Paper Toss
other apps i hope to add:
a keyboard of some sort (Swype, T9, ect. ect.)
music player (iSync, Google Music Beta, PowerAMP, Audio Galaxy)
any suggestions; Games, System Apps, Widget Apps, ect. ect.
There I fixed it :)
I really like Swiftkey, but for some reason it always crashes a lot in firefox and just browsers in general.
The 3D is supposed to have some nice task killer built into Sense Tres punto cero. And a cool multitasker as well.
Android has included a decent way to kill the occasionally misbehaving app.
We're not referring to that - we're referring to the scourge of Android and the bane of our existence - the automated task killer.
I like Screen Lock/Off. Just enabled the animations with the app the other day. Figured I would try something new and it made me say dang. This phone is unbeatable in regard to customizing the OS. I think its so freaking cool how the phone goes to sleep now. It can turn off like a tv screen, fade out, or roll out. Also, there are like 15 other ways for the phone to animate itself as it is about to go to sleep. That app should be standard on the Android OS. Its awesome to watch the live wallpaper called Solar Wind on my phone "tv out" the phone to sleep.
Live Wallpaper favs: Solar Wind, Vortex Galaxy, and 3D FireFlies, and Rays of Light.
