Help Connecting to PS3

Anyone know if its possible. This is what I normally use to playback videos I have recorded. I have tried it but it does not display any files. If its not possible then I would not recommend this phone to people with Mac's as trying to play back videos is a nightmare.

It is, but it requires some tinkering with the files. If you can run windows, you need to grab this utility called FFMPEG:

Unpack it and open notepad and paste this script into it:

Notice the "c:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe" - this must be changed to the path where ffmpeg.exe is placed.

Now save the script as videofixer.bat

Now you can drag your recorded MP4 files into the script icon and it will automatically produce a corrected version that plays on your PS3 - it's very fast and doesn't cause any quality loss in the video.

I have created a zip-package with FFMPEG, the script and a readme-file that explains why your files won't play on the PS3 and how the script fixes it.

The files must be unzipped to c:\mp4fixer

After that, just drag your MP4-files onto the script inside the folder and the files will be fixed.

Will this enable me to stream video directly from phone using iMediaShare (or a similar app like DoubleTwist)? Right now, my PS3 does not recognize videos from my phone and I don't want to have to put the video from my phone onto my computer - convert it - tehn stream it to my PS3.

You can also directly edit the video file on the S2 using a hex editor, changing the 3GP4 identifier to MP42 (6d 70 34 32).

You could just get the hdmi adapter and play your videos straight through your tv

Right now the PS3 won't play the files because of the unrecognised identifier. You will have to move the files to your PC, run them through the script (only takes a few seconds pr. file) and then move the adjusted files back to the phone if you want to play them off the phone.

Ideally, Sony should just get their friggin' act together and update the system software to recognise the 3GP4 identifier, but fat chance of that happening.

You can stream stuff from phone to ps3 using imediashare app. But as mentioned not mp4, would like a fix for this too.

The above method is lossless and if you know how to use the terminal you can find a Mac build of ffmpeg which the script uses.

Otherwise, if you have QuickTime Pro you can open the files and click export and do a stream copy of both audio and video - then you get a new .mp4 file with lossless copies of the original streams - and the new mp4-file plays on the PS3.

But the script way is the fastest and cheapest way.

I can confirm with the help of Madizone's instructions and Mediashare you can stream videos to the PS3. Excellent quality.
