Help Why Are My CONTACT SHORTCUT Icons Different?

Alright, I've changed this setting before but I just can't remember how I did it...

I have a page that is full of contacts that I access most often. I just recently changed the picture of a contact and, in order to update the pic on the contact shortcut that I made, I had to erase the old shortcut and add a new one after updating the contact pic. When I did this, however, it added a different type of contact icon than what I have set as all the others.

Here's a pic:

As you can see, the contact icon in the top middle is completely different than the rest. They used to all pop up like that but I've been able to change it in the past...I just don't remember how!

I just want all the icons to look the same and I don't like the style that has popped up on there (I believe it's the default Android icon)...I want the style with the white border/bigger pictures like the rest in the picture above.

I'd also like to note that nothing else on my phone has changed since updating to Gingerbread several months ago and adding Launcher Pro.....I was able to create all of the other contact shortcut icons with exactly the same phone setup as I still have currently.

Any help is MUCH appreciated!

It's probably just a different shortcut. When you longpress and options pop up I get different options for shortcuts and under shortcuts i have options of contacts or direct dial etc. Try a different kind of shortcut.

This is NOT just happening to my Nexus One so can you mods PLEASE stop moving this topic...it's an ANDROID problem which is the reason I posted in the ANDROID FORUM!! Can it PLEASE be moved back?


Lunatic, all the shortcuts are the same and are just the regular shortcuts. They're not the direct dial or direct message. When I click on any of the icons on that page, the bubble pops up asking me what I want to do and gives options of call, message, email, Facebook, etc.

Because your details list a Nexus One as your device. Rob likes the forums organized that way.

Long press the homescreen and select shortcut>contact>contact name I get the larger icon when I do that.

You doing the same method above gets you the icons with the white backgrounds? This is the way that I've been doing it...at least I think.

I long press on the homescreen and choose Shortcut>Contact> and then choose contact from my list of contacts. Whenever I click on a contact's name, it pops up with a box that asks me to rename the contact shortcut or to select a different icon. Whenever I choose to pick a new icon, however, it simply takes me to my gallery. Choosing a pic from my gallery makes it all odd shaped and not cropped like the icons above are.

I thought I remember there being a setting in Launcher Pro about using old icons or new icons but I can't find it and I know I haven't changed any settings since adding the other contact shortcuts.

I just tried that since my phone has been up for 200+ hours and after it rebooted, still nothing. It's still putting that same icon background as the top middle anytime I create a new contact shortcut.

This is making me insane because I clearly remember doing something special to get the white backgrounds and thought "hey, I like this better" whenever I found out how to do it......I just can't remember what that something special I did to get them that way was. It was something more than just adding a new shortcut, though.

AH, YEAH! I just figured it out!!

The ONLY setting I've changed recently was the theme using CM7. Changing the theme back to the default "System" now gives me the icons I was looking for!

I have LauncherPro on my Captivate and it is behaving the same as yours. On my Nexus with ADW Ex, I get the other style contact shortcut. I tried installing ADW on the Captivate, but i still get the grey border. I am wondering if it has something to do with TouchWiz?
