I think I'm quitting the scene. As much as I love working on the phone i've released and given a lot to the community and gotten almost nothing in return. When you say your going to donate do it, when you say you'll click ads do it. I barely get a thanks most times just complaining. It's not worth it anymore. I had my heart into this for a while

If you're expecting instant results, it's not going to happen. Have some patience. You just posted the overclock and recovery files, what - six hours ago? Not a ton of people have this phone, so there's not going to be a ton of feedback.

I have been clicking the ads on your blog, even though I haven't downloaded any of the files - yet. I want to make sure it works before I do this on my primary phone.

Thanks for your hard work.

Might I suggest 'polling' people and asking them what they want to see happen with your efforts... Myself I find your post most appealing from a geek/nerd aspect but not entirely relevant as I don't feel the need to overclock, root, or install new roms... That way people might be more inclined to donate if your efforts are aimed towards the unwashed masses, normal blow Joe people that don't want to take the chance of bricking????? For example...The netflix post you had was definitely of interest to me and people seemed to have chimed in that it too was of interest to the point I would say it was worth donating for...

No the netflix post wasn't. That was a simple fix. But I did poll if you'd been on my page and I gave people exactly what they were asking for.Your one of t'he few that DIDNT want those things.Again this is my goodbye i'm quitting the scene.Just like the ps3 and psp scene no one knows how to just be grateful. And you would have had a green line and slight discoloration anyways on the netflix UNLESS you were running a custom rom. It was a stagefright issue. If you haven't noticed, no one has bricked since installing my work. But uh yeah thanks for being ignorant about the situation. Either way i'm heading to webOS.

Have fun quitting but you're doing this when traffic is at its lowest, on a weekend. Why are you expecting so many responses when people simply aren't using a computer at this time? Also, not a lot of people have this phone, and it was only rooted recently. Doing this was all your choice - you decided to do this yourself and no one forced you to do this. Stop trying to make yourself a martyr and being so condescending - it is not going to work.

I was going to test out your stuff but since you're giving up, I won't bother.

Good luck. I don't have the Optimus c, but I was happy to see that someone was finally trying to make it more fun and bring the community to life. From what I've seen, being a dev seems pretty thankless anyway. If you are not doing it because you enjoy it, then it probably isn't worth the headaches. Your quitting will be a big loss to the Optimus c forum. People don't realise how much difference one person can make to a phone. It was only one guy who brought Icarus, Cm6 &Cm7 to the Ascend. Maybe you could at least wait until your recovery and ROMs are to the point where average people (noobs) can flash them. One suggestion; step by step instructions would make a big difference. You can't just say "here's a ROM, guys" and expect noobs to know what to do with it. On a low end phone, most of the users are new to Android. Have a little patience. Its just like anything else, some people are going to be cool, a lot of people will be a pain in the ass, but if you are doing it for adulation and appreciation, you will probably be disappointed.

Listen to me for a sec:

I'm new to this forum, but I've been running a music blog that runs ads for almost six years now. You won't see instant results in terms of ad revenues. I get a couple thousand hits a day & there are all kinds of reasons why ads don't get clicked.

People hit my page and something doesn't load. A lot of people run ad blockers. There's a lot that could be causing your click-thru's to be low, the biggest of which is likely that people are visiting your page without actually downloading anything. Hopefully you'll look at more than just the number of visits, you'll look at the depth of their visits and where they click, where they don't.

I give away free MP3's. Sometimes, that's all people come there to do. Yes, it's a bummer, but what can I do?

You're doing a great thing which I personally appreciate, so I've clicked on your ads & done my personal part. You can only hope that others follow suit, but don't blow your stack if it doesn't happen. It's not personal -- this is the web. Friendships are often more valuable than money out here. If I only ever did what I do for notoriety or attention, I'd have nothing. By doing a lot of giving without worrying about what I've gotten in return, I have more than I know what to do with.

If you quit because nobody is paying attention or doing what you want them to do right now, I really believe you're going to miss out on a payoff down the line. I don't know what it will be, but it tends to happen.

And I won't be offended if you don't follow this advice, I just share it because you're obviously passionate about this project.

No i'll take that to heart. I think i'll stick around for a bit.Just no more releases for a little while. The other roms are on hold until the community is ready for them. But thank you that makes a lot of sense.

after thinking about it and looking at the last few posts.. yeah. heck... I just a few days ago posted I didn't even KNOW what a 'rom' was and had to look it up.. let alone know how to use/install one.. I like this forum since it is opening my eyes as to possiblilities. It will be poorer without your posts.

also.. possibly a part of the equation..The optimus C is marketed to people with budget as a part of their decision (it is cricket after all)... as such people using this phone might not be as forthcoming monetarily.

I got a new job with bayer (yes the same people who make medicine) lol. So the pay is better and i'll be releasing new code probably every weekend and blogging for you guys to understand terms before work.So be sure to check it out daily for surprise goodies to my followers. I appreciate you guys clicking the ads and I ask you do it whenever you can. It's so much better than donations lol. I know we're all tight on money.I've been there believe me, I left home when I was 17. So i'm going to stay, but not be as involved.I want to help you guys stand on your own. Like dax did to the psp, hes my inspiration.

I have been following what you have been doing Rebel and I wanted to put your rom on my phone but I didn't want to do it without your new recovery for this phone. I didn't want to try using Xiona at all and plus there were posts saying to not use it anymore. Thank you for all your hard work and I'm glad to hear your going to stay. I'd like to get more into programming these phones but I don't know where to start yet.
