I'm having problem with my 4gb sd card(kingston).every now and then g1 says no memory card but after i take it out and plug in to the laptop and mount it,it works fine for some time. Then within a day or even less time all of a sudden it says no memory card.I was wondering if g1 works fine with only Sandisk sd card as thats the brand they have installed initially(1gb).

I have used several different memory cards in my phone currently using an 8gb lexar no issues...I'd try another card and if thats not it maybe it is just not "clicking" into place properly..... either one will cause issues.......

I was having the same problem, unsafe sd card removal kept popping up on my screen every few hours and sd was not being recognised as inserted. I think i might have fixed it, it hasn't happened since. This is what i did :

1) open the sd card compartment
2)remove sd card
3) look to the top right and you'll see a little pointed thingy sticking out.
4) use a toothpick and push it all the way in to the right a little until it stays in by itself (should not be sticking back out)
5) insert sd card and make sure it clicks in place and then it should be fine.

I think the prob is with the civer for the sd card slot, it has a little ridge on it that should push that little thingy in but i dont think its making a good contact with it.

Yes that is the door switch and if the little cover is not properly and fully closed the Phone will report that the SD is not installed ( even thought i may be installed) ... Sounds as though your switch and cover must not be aligning properly.

Hi,

I have this problem too. It is very irritating when you want to take a photo using the camera and the message "no sd card inserted" (or whatever it says) shows. I followed the advice given above (thanks :)) and hopefully, it will be solved now.

Kind regards

Daniel

The Error mesaage when you try to take a picture is :
"Please insert an SD card before using the camera"

LOL,

yes, thats it :)

Why does that message show all the time? The card is not fiddled with in any way. The only way to make the message dissapear is to physically take out and re-insert the card again. Most annoying...

Dont mess with the card ... It is the Cover ... Press around the entire edge of the cover making sure it is pushed in and closed completely ... this will engage the micro switch... that signals the microSD is installed.

HTC could/should have put the switch ..such that the card engaged it as opposed to the cover ... but "there it is" and we deal with it ..!!

I can't find that little pointy thing you were talking about, where is it?

The SDcard door is just below the phone call button on the chin portion of the phone ... Side open keyboard for full access to the cover ....

That cover must be completely seated or you may have problems with the SDCard being recognize as being installed.
