Hey guys. I may be going through a deal on a G1 soon but I have a question. The seller told me that it doesn't come with the usb cable.

Instead of going into details about why and arguing with him to have him give me another, etc, I was wondering if the G1's USB cable is the standard USB 10mm to 0.5mm miniusb?

Like these cables?
I use them for my mp3 player and the other is for motorola phones. They're interchangeable however.

I couldn't do a search because the term USB is under the minimum search length..
But I hope this topic can make its way for anyone else in the future searching or interested in finding out this answer.

Hi,

I just got an android dev phone, and the usb plug is different from all other usb-plugs i've got. It's a rectangle with one of the corners "cut". About the same size as those small and trapezoid looking plugs.

My other USB plugs are either:

* big, and rectangle, the same size which goes into PC's
* big and square, usually on external HDD's and USB hubs
* small and trapezoid

Unless the G1 is different from android dev phone, your cables will not work.

However, I am surprised if it is not possible to buy correct cables. I'm looking for that myself, and if anyone knows where to buy, please advice :)

no, all of them look that way, however, the regular mini-USB will fit just fine, and works. I don't even know where my original usb cable is anymore, but any of the others that I have work just fine.

Just to restate, mine also looks like you said, the rectangle with one corner angled.

Agreed, mine looks exactly like that too, and the USB mini cable works just fine.
