I try to send a file from my Sony Ericsson (W850i) mobile phone to my HTC Dream but my Sony Ericsson mobile phone not able to detect my HTC Dream, although both of them has been paired in HTC Dream.

The setting in HTC Dream for bluetooth as below

Settings->Bluetooth (ON)
Settings->Bluetooth settings->Bluetooth(ON) and Discoverable(ON)

But still I cannot detect the HTC Dream from the W850i, eventhough they are place next to each other.

Anyone faced this problem too? Anyway to remedy this? Or it's a known bug in HTC Dream?

As far as I know, the bluetooth stack of the Android system on the Dream supports BT headsets only. File transfer is currently not supported.

So sad to hear that we still not able to do file transfer via bluetooth. Sounds like we are using dinasour technology, while Android OS and HTC Dream is so advance

:(

Dinosaur? Hardly. Bluetooth has been widely in use since like 2004. If you look into it, a lot of the "missing" features like this aren't missing because someone was lazy or stupid, it's because there was an issue that needed to be addressed. From what I understand, the issue was security.

Hi,
I have just rebuilt ny G1 to RC33 and the BT is not working. This is an unrooted phone that used to be just fine. After the rebuild, hands free no longer works, nor can I connect to Jawbone earpiece. Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a bad radio flash ...

Check in the phone settings |About Phone | Baseband version: it should be : 62.505.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
for a U.S. T-Mobile unit ...

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. My settings are :
62.505.20.17H_2.22.19.26I

How do I change it to U?
Thanks

Not sure if you have to:

My rooted G1 has:
62.505.20.17U_2.22.19.26I

My Stock G1 has:
62.505.20.17H_2.22.19.26I

My Stock MT3G has: 62.505.20.17U_2.22.19.26I

So you are probably ok with what you have ... but i would have expected if you were rooted you would have the "U" version ...

You could do a search for the "H" version and give it a try ... and flash it per you rooting/unrooting guide ....

Android doesn't support FTP, so this stops it from connecting to most devices (besides Bluetooth headsets and such.
If you want to connect your phones together, go to the market and download "Bluetooth file transfer"
that app will allow you to connect the phones together.
(it's a little confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it
