Hi Guys

i'm sure this has been asked before but, with 2.01 and 2.1 things may have changed and as these are/have *just* come out I felt it was worth asking:

I'm looking at either a driod or HD2. Now I really like the HD2 BUT it has the usual HTC BS issues with a buggy frontend and generaly, like all HTC stuff, being excellent in principle but rushed out and becomes major fail.

So, this brings me to a Milestone (i'm in the UK).

I'm very tempted by this as its similar in form factor to my current Acer M900 - large screen and slide keyboard. But before I do, i'm a little confused by some stuff and was hoping you guys can help me please?

- I'm looking at a Milestone being a UK person, can I use ROM's for a Droid and still retain the multi-touch feature?

- I have read over the past few days that some Droids can auto-reboot. Does this also affect Milestones and have the new 2.01 updates fixed it? Do we know if the 2.1 will defo fix?

- I am a hardcore Office user on my WinMobs, can I get full office functionality on the Droid? I need full outlook sync including tasks. I need to be able to edit Excel and Word and at least look at PowerPoint presentations.

- I also need OneNote or something VERY similar on Android that will sync to my PC as well, can this be done

- I have read that the keyboard can be akward, sadly I have no idea where to try one in the UK so, honestly, is it useable or too cramped

- Battery life - i'd need full push email for 7am to 10pm, can the phone battery handle this

- The HTC HD2 has the usual issue where when locked it will require a reboot to "wake it up" again, does anything like this happen with the Milestone? Its highly embarrasing and VERY frustrating to go to take notes in a meeting only to find I need to reboot before I can....

I know you can only speak from YOUR experience and EVERYONE has a DIFERENT experience, so please, answer from your point of view.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer, it is really, really appreciated!!!!!

p.s. Mods, why can't you send a confirmation email to my private address? I have no blocking or junk filters in place (Stuza@stuza.com/Mail2web email service - not too bothered about people knowing it)

Battery life: I have 3 accounts (1 gmail and the other two are POP). Gmail pushes I think (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) the POP accounts are checked every 15 minutes. After a breaking in period (charging cycles) my battery is lasting easily beyond the time period you ask about.

Rebooting: I've not had that happen. (2.0.1)

Keyboard: I'm getting used to it, but frankly I mainly use the virtual keyboards.

The rest of your questions I can't answer due to not having any experience with the topics (exchange and so on).

I hope that helps some. :)

I would say its NOT the phone for you I have one and am not that impressed, for MS sync its no may as good as ME mobile etc especially for working on ms documents, Battey life mine cant make the working day with out toppping up from car kit (3G use sucks the life out of battery big time), key boad is crap not a patch on BB stuff keys just to flat no feel of key you are on, I use MS outlook stand alone not exchange and need 3rd party app to sync contacts (companion link works well though it costs), no rebot issues very stable phone hard wear and screen not bad but overall wishing I had gone for BB or Iphone, see your post is a little old so i may be too late. would welcome feed back from any one on working with MS office stuff as I am struggling but found my trusty old PDA phone a dream for this.

Lol? HTC phones are fine. Why do you think the Hero was received so well and why Google picked them to make the N1? Oh, right, "major fail." Reading further down: you're using an Acer phone and... and you think HTC's products are "major fails"? Really?

So, this brings me to a Milestone (i'm in the UK).

- I have read over the past few days that some Droids can auto-reboot. Does this also affect Milestones and have the new 2.01 updates fixed it? Do we know if the 2.1 will defo fix?

All the problems I've heard about the Droid seem to be hardware-related. But with that said, my N1 (2.1 out of the box, natch) has never randomly rebooted except when I'm messing around after rooting it and trying to apply an incompatible morph, but that's my fault.

- I am a hardcore Office user on my WinMobs, can I get full office functionality on the Droid? I need full outlook sync including tasks. I need to be able to edit Excel and Word and at least look at PowerPoint presentations.

Sure. Documents to Go.

- I also need OneNote or something VERY similar on Android that will sync to my PC as well, can this be done

EverNote? 3banana? Gdocs? Idk. There're several note-taking programs that sync. I prefer Gdocs myself since, as the name implies, it syncs with your google docs. Not the most polished app ever to grace mankind, but it does what it says on the tin and does it well.

- The HTC HD2 has the usual issue where when locked it will require a reboot to "wake it up" again, does anything like this happen with the Milestone? Its highly embarrasing and VERY frustrating to go to take notes in a meeting only to find I need to reboot before I can....

Sounds like a WinMo thing.
