If you are willing to root, Mik2.1 ROM brings sense 2.1/3.0 in a very stable fashion to the EVO. I'm currently sporting this ROM and it gives the EVO a new lease on life. The new Sense GUI is truly a sight to behold...

I was going to grab a 3D but I'm going to wait a while and see what the next few months brings as my 4G sporting Sense 2.1/3.0 is really quite stellar.

Until Sprint gets an iPhone. Android is nice, but I want battery life.

I still can't comprehend this argument. My buddy has an iPhone 4 and he runs to the plug more than I do. I'm not willing to say that the iPhone has worse battery life than the Evo, but I'm not willing to say it is better, either. It certainly isn't a big enough delta to make it a deciding factor, in my opinion.

Really the only thing I can concede to the iPhone is that it has a unique OS that may appeal to some people more than Android. That and I suppose it makes you look "cool".

Yep, I'm running Kings Alliance ROM 7.3 based off of Mik's ROM. Still not giving up my EVO 4G. :D

I will be getting rid of this piece of junk as soon as possible. The phone has been the worst phone I have owned. Battery Life is horrible, had to have screen replaced twice, gingerbread is a big let down. Apps crash the phone constantly. Heading back to an Iphone as soon as a new one is released. You may not like apple but there phone and os destroys android. I had a lot of hope and wanted android to be better but its getting to fragmented and just lousy. Pulled my evo of of the charger at 6:30 this morning took 4 calls and moderately cruised the internet and it was dead at 2:15. Ohh and bye the way don't even think of turning on 4g.

lol, good luck with the POS Apple OS...

I will keep mine until i get an upgrade, which this guy at the sprint store told me it would be 2 years....WTF? When i signed up i thought it was 14 months. He said they changed it and for them to just change it like that is F'in ridiculous...Anyone know anything about that? Yeah though, this is without a doubt the best phone i have ever used (yet) and i have had a ton of phones. 3 diff androids, all the iphones except 4 (whats the point) and this blew them all out of the water.

Sprint premier used to give the primary account holder a yearly upgrade. They split it into Sprint Premier Silver and Sprint Premier Gold. Only Sprint Premier Gold gets yearly upgrades. In order to be eligible for that you have to have been with sprint for 10 years or have a monthly base plan that is $89.99 for single lines or $169.99 for shared plans. If you don't get a yearly upgrade you can upgrade every 22 Months. Some people have had luck calling in and asking for 1 more yearly upgrade check out this http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/337382-any-us-eligible-upgrade.html

Mom has a new phone today, and it's a rooted evo...

The e3d is really nice. I can't wait to get root and really see the potential of this phone. It'a amazing.

By the way, Best Buy is ofering evo 4g's for $1 with a contract. With that price for that phone, I bet they sell a hell of a lot fo evo's in the near future...

I'll be keeping mine until the alleged EVO 4G+ comes to Sprint. As another said, I picked mine up late summer last year so I'm not due for roughly another 10 months, unless I call Sprint and persuade them to move my date up. But I could care less honestly, running a ROM that I absolutely adore at the moment. New isn't always better. In this case specs are, but 3D is useless to me, give me an upgraded camera instead (4G+)

I was pretty excited when I read about that...but I really now think that is an 'asia-only' model. It's basically a EVO-3D without all the 3-D gimickery and a nicer, 2D 8 MP camera. Just what I would want!

I can still hope, I guess.

I have to admit the 3d is a pretty neat feature. I didn't think I'd even turn it on but it takes very cool pics. I feel like I am using a secret handshake though as no other computers or phones can read the pics. You're limited by the fact that they are only viewable basically on the camera.

It's better than it sounds believe it or not. As for specs it absolutely crushes the evo...

Well my kick stand broke a week ago (doesnt close properly, go black elec. tape to hide it nicely). So im on the lookout....if it does comes maybe the evo 4g+ or something before end of year.

Don't rule out the photon 4g. With the Atrix 4g supposedly getting an OTA that'll unlock the bootloader, and Sprint announcing that they'd allow all future smartphones to be able to remove certain Sprint bloatware out the box (no rooting), the Photon 4G might just be the phone of choice for some former EVO owners that didn't buy the 3D.

I tested out the 3D in the store today. Definitely not my cup of tea with the 3D thing and looked like Sense 3.0 was a little watered down compared to how they showed it in the videos (e.g. you have to download skins that they were showing off in videos with different phone launchers, etc...).

I will keep mine till my contract is up prolly in October, and might push it back longer since everything I need to do on a phone ma evo can. I checked out the 3d ver of this and it did nothing but hurt my eyes, dual core will always have its benefits but right now the only I c so far is console like games. Aka my evo will b wit me for a good ole while

Absolutely agree. Just a little tip, if your contact is up in october, be sure to ask sprint for a customer loyalty credit if u extend. I got enough credit to pay for a good portion of my evo and it may be enough to allow u to upgrade. If you end up liking the photon 4g or galaxy s 2, you can use the credit to help pay for a dual core phone.

Got my EVO in november and I am enjoying it. If something is available at the end of the year when my upgrade is due then I will definitely take a look. I hope HTC change the hardware design and bring something more sleek and stylish to sprint. All the EVO line just look so much alike.
