Hi, managed to lose my phone yesterday. I've tried to call it up, but it's most likely on silent mode.

I think either someone took the phone(was at a party), or I've managed to lose it without noticing:

Which app would be most suitable for this situation?

1. Remote installation and setup
2. GPS or signal tracking

I didn't have any apps installed before I lost it, so obviously I can't use a program that needs setup and registration from within the phone.

I tried Plan B, but it's giving me a very general location...which also leads me to: Can GPS be turned on remotely?

Thanks! I've downloaded both WaveSecure and Lookout, but can't seem to get either of them to work, as I'm unable to log in or register.

Thanks

edit: BTW, how does one register/make a new lookout account? I can download the app, but I can't seem to find any info on registration...is this something that you have to do on your phone? In that case, it would be useless to me, as I've obviously lost the phone.

pretty sure you are SOL, you cant remotely install an app on your phone or change settings without having had set it up BEFORE, that would be a HUGE SECURITY ISSUE.

Nope. I'm certain it's impossible for applications to turn on the GPS by themselves.

I would not want this to be happening at all. Applications sneakily reporting accurate GPS locations back to their mothership, even when the GPS is supposed to be OFF.
