Custom Email SMS alerts on the Samsung Galaxy S2

Hello everyone this is my first post. I am very excited and very much interested in the SGS2 but I would like to know about one particular feature. Does the phone offer custom email and SMS alert tones based on sender, subject, or body? I also have a Blackberry and I have running on it a web messenger alert app and it works wonderfully in notifying me on emails that I need to respond to quickly. I would like to hear from the current device owners or from those who had the chance the review the device. I believe i read something about alerts or notifications on the device. The current apps available on the Market are very limiting.

Thank you

I'm not sure how helpful this is (unless you use Yahoo email) though the Yahoo app works amazing. You cant choose custom tones per sender though it does sync very well. More often than not I get email alerts on the phone before yahoo email on the web shows up.

Not sure about emails, but for SMS the application called Tasker can do what you want (and a million other things).

EDIT: Just checked Tasker on my phone - there is a plugin for K9 mail which should mean that custom alerts are possible. K9 has a good reputation as a very capable mail client, so you are probably not losing out in switching to that in order to get your custom notifications.

Thank you both for replying to my post but I am looking for an Android app that can alert me on emails and sms msgs based on sender, or subject, and or text in the body of the message. I have my corporate emails going to my Android device and my Blackberry Tour but the custom alerts only work and work very well on my Blackberry. I would love to say good bye to my BB if it wasn't for those awesome custom alerts. I work in the IT field and having an app that can alert me when a server goes down or process that has stopped would be extremely helpful. Thanks again.

I have exactly the same concern. Currently using a blackberry and would like to ditch it for the Samsung Skyrocket this weekend. I need to be able to setup an email account to have a specific notification alert tone that is loud and will still alert even if the phone is locked. Obviously for my other email accounts, I will want some kind of other peaceful more pleasant notification setting.

If I can't setup the notifications to be able to wake my ass up at 2am when our monitoring system emails me that a server has just gone down, I won't be able to switch from Blackberry.
