I have always wondered about this ...
Here in the UK, I'm using an unlocked (but not rooted) Desire Z on Orange. When I have the need, I simply turn on the "Wi-fi Hotspot" on my phone, and my tablet (and also my friend's iPad2) can connect to it right away.
Is this called "tethering"?
If so, how come I'm not paying for it? (I understand I'm using data included in my monthly contract with Orange) ... but as far as I can tell, in the US, you pay a further charge for tethering.
Or am I missing something?
