How do i set-up multiple email accounts

I have setup, my 2 gmail accounts and work email, exchange.

It is very simple to do;

1. Set your default gmail to the gmail icon or when first starting the phone it prompts you for it.
2. Set all other emails in the other default email app,

The exchange was a bit tricky as i didnt know the parameters and had to guess, but the gmail was dead simple, gmail addy and password, and it was set up.

PS you need to enable IMAP in your gmail account

Best thing to do would be to set up your gmail account to get messages from your hotmail account (add POP3 email account in your gmail settings)

I use a few email accounts and it works wonders. You can set them to autoarchive if you want, messages will appear in the appropriate label folder and bypass inbox.

I've stopped using the HTC mail application because gmail does everything I need.

If you have multiple gmail accounts, gmail won't allow you to pop them, best thing is to use one as a 'default' then set the others to forward mail to the default in the gmail account settings (on t'web') then go into the default and set labels for each alt that will filter into upon recieve, then your gmail on the Hero will handle all of the Gmails and any pops from other accounts.

Gmail does allow you to access other gmail accounts via POP3 actually, in Settings >> Accounts and Import. I have it set up on mine :)

Just set up all your other accounts in K-9 Mail.

I don't use the standard Gmail app - found it awful to use. I set up my Gmail as an IMAP account in K-9 Mail, enabling the PUSH feature and I get my Gmail there the instant it's received on the Gmail server.

I set up four IMAP accounts for domains that I own and my Hotmail account is checked every ten minutes via POP3 (MS have opened up POP3 access to ALL Hotmail users now).

A quick question on this forwarding stuff -
Originally, I tried setting a few yahoo accounts to forward to gmail. They all forwarded easily enough, but then I had a thought - if I wanted to reply to one of these yahoo mails, would the address at the other end show as coming from gmail?
Thats when I changed them all back and thought nothing else about it until seeing this post.
So - would it show as coming from yahoo or gmail?

hannahl3: You can set up your gmail to send via another account :).
Go to Settings > Accounts and Import and hit 'Send mail from another address' and go through the set up for it there. When it asks you "Send mail via your SMTP server?click the second option. That way the email is actually sent via yahoo.

DeadlyDazza: Odd, I dont remember having any problem when I set mine up. Did you enable POP access on the other accounts? It's switched off by default.

Thanks for all your help :)

My other accounts are now linked in to my gmail account and I use the gmail app instead of the HTC mail app. Means that I don't have the HTC email widget but I can live without it. Having my hosted email (on my own domain) going through google does have advantages - I now have decent spam protection
