I ordered my first Android Phone

I ordered a Droid X through Newegg/Verizon Wireless, I know it's not the latest or greatest but it beats the socks off of my current crummy prepaid TracFone.

Here's my concern, when I applied I had bad credit due to some outstanding bills I am currently working on paying. I know cell phone providers usually run a credit check and if they do I'll likely be denied, but I also hear that Verizon doesn't really do credit checks, I would of course need to ensure the bill is paid in full every month else they will hit me with an early termination fee if I get the phone and service. It's a free phone with a two year contract, I also got the $29.99 data plan as I didn't need the features of the more expensive plan. I'm not even sure if I'll get the phone but I just received a shipping update from Newegg stating the phone completed processing and is ready to ship. However the email also says "As soon as it passes our Quality Assurance team, we will update our Customer Support website and send you another email so you can track your package directly on the shipper's site".

What is quality Assurance, is that just making sure the product is ok before they ship that or is that another way of saying they'll run me through a credit check before deciding to ship the phone?

It's usually not that big of a deal as long as you don't owe Verizon for previous service. If there is a number on the email they sent then call that.

In the event of a denial, there's always the pre-owned option. Know it doesn't sound attractive but a lot of times pre-owned phones are good. I owned a pre-owned refurbed Nokia E71x and it worked like a charm until I went Android.

Verizon is offering the Thunderbolt for $170 pre-owned on their website, only $20 more than the X and you get 4G LTE(wherever available).

Anyway, Good Luck.

Well I haven't received anything stating I was denied yet, just a shipping update email from Newegg stating the phone completed processing and is ready to ship as soon as it passes the quality assurance team whatever that is. In the email I got the shipping/order number, if I go to "where is my order" and input my email and the shipping/order number it says the status of the order is shipping. To be scheduled is under the date the service goes live. Under order summery it lists the mobile number.

All this makes it seem like I'll get the phone, but it's the passing quality assurance before it ships that worries me. Under the wireless section on Newegg the Droid X is free with a new Verizon Wireless account, on the Verizon website the phone is not listed as free.

:Edit: Just received an email that the phone shipped and got my mobile number. Cool beans. :D
