A few annoying things

Hi all,

Instead of making multiple posts, i am going to ask all here if thats ok.

1) When i press the home button, does it close the app you were on? After reading allt he posts about task killer etc, most people dont recommend it? Is that what i am looking for?

2) My battery with some internet usage, sending texts is not even lasting me half a day! Is it related to 1.? GPS, wifi is off. screen brightness set on half.

3)Handcent - i keep getting the notification in top bar come up again after i read the text.

4)Weather widget - i have it on current city but sometimes it keeps going back to Holne! Im not even in the same country and i never set holne. And i ahve the auto update ticked but it never updates itself unless i press update/refresh button.

5)Google Finance - can you not change the first tab? i dont want nasdaq graph on there, i want ftse but i cannot seem to change it?

  1. I hope someone can help, its really annoying me. SOrry for so many questions
Thanks in advance for any replies :)

1) Nope. Pressing the home button is just like minimising all the windows on a computer; everything is running in the background. Task killers are dedicated apps.

2) Hard to tell. It might be an app you've isntalled stopping the phone from sleeping.

3) Sounds like you need to turn off notifications in the default messaging app.

4) I don't really know =/ Maybe if you delete all the other locations from the weather app other than the one you use?

Thanks for the reply xtiro,
for
1) if the app does not have a log out.close button, then how are u supposed to close the app completely without getting task killer?

3)My standard android message notification is turned off. i only have handcent notification on and it does notify me but notifies me again after i already read the text.

4) deleted all other cities as suggested by the others threads but still no luck

1) In theory android shouldn't have a need to close apps; they just sit there unless another program needs memory, in which case the least recently closed app is shut down. To be honest though I do use a task killer myself.

3) The only other thing I can think of is that, when you read the texts, do you read them as popups? You know, where it apears over whatever you're doing rather than going to the app. It can be set so that reading via the popup doesn't mark it as read.
