Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

Thanks much EvoMax- the only problem is that one is horizontal (horizonal ones always pop off when I sit down, for some reason). I have some DS/3DS cases and, indeed, it fits great. But nothing with a clip. 8-/

Not sure if I get what you mean, but this case is a loop, not a clip. You have to feed a belt through it. Hope that helps.

May be slightly OT because it is more of an accessory than a case, but I ran across an interesting looking stand/device/holder called the Spiderpodium. It appears that it was made for iThingys but it looks like it would work just as well for any device. Has anyone tried one out? If so, what is your opinion? I thought it would be kind of cool to have on your desk and by design, the charge cord wouldn't get in the way at all since it would be on the bottom. Thanks in advance for any replies! :)

I was wanting the casemate pop case and my friend pointed out that with the kickstand out and while watching a video or movie he said the plug to charge would be at the bottom. But I don't have to plug it in every time I'm using kickstand and I have extra batteries. But now I am not sure if I'll get it or wait for the HTC one.

Just got my EVO 3D yesterday, shattered the screen this morning at work. Dropped it onto the floor, the phone landed flat, screen side down. Ugh, so my replacement is in the mail. After a little begging Sprint is only charging $30, instead of the $100 deductible.

Back on topic, I've been looking at a few cases. (I'm not using the new 3vo without one. Learned my lesson the hard way, for sure.) Mainly, Otterbox Impact or Commuter and the TPU case. Also, a ZAGG screen protector. I don't plan on buying another case, I don't care for a kickstand. Would either of these cases be a good permanent solution? Especially for little drops. I'm pretty careful with my phones. I've never seen a screen shatter so easily. :(

Ive been using the OB Defender for about a week and have already removed the built in screen protector, I don't like feeling the slightest space in between the actual phone screen and the protector screen. I was intending on having to cut it however it peels right off. So I will be purchasing another screen protector to place directly on the phone itself, damn thats about $70 to protect this thing!!

One HUGE problem with the OB Defender which im sure numerous people will find is that the top edge is very sharp and digs in to your ear with the slightest pressure.

+2 otterbox commuter and it comes with their screen protector that you apply seperately from the case (not built in like the defender case). I used it on my heroC totally protected it from a drop off the top of my car going down a roadway. I did the same thing as you did with my first HeroC. There are plenty of cases out there and it comes to personal choice. The commuter is less bulky to me. I like the feel of the screen protector that come with it. It does however seem to collect fingerprints much easier.

I think it's just a matter of how it hits the ground. My last phone (a Cliq) was dropped countless times. Then, one day, it dropped and hit the corner just "so". The screen shattered in a million places. I was able to buy a new digitizer on ebay for $25 and replace it myself (which was much harder than I was expecting, btw; not for the feint of heart). That experience caused me to learn a lesson, too. I've never come close to damaging the phone while just walking around. The potential for damage is greatest when you're holding it (or, more specifically, when you're dropping it). That's why I bought an Otterbox commuter this go 'round.

I used to think: "people are just careless, that won't ever happen to me" (despite the dents around the perimiter to prove me wrong). Now, I just accept that it can indeed happen, no matter how careful you try to be. Maybe you'll trip, maybe your hands are sweatier than you thought, maybe your 3-year-old son will run up from behind and latch onto your leg when you're not expecting it. My shattered screen experience moved me firmly from the "naked phone only" camp, squarely into the "permanently-attached case" camp.

@neoterix, What clock widget is that??

@neo.. Do you have 9 home screens on the 3VO?? Me likey !!!

Ditto that... Me love it long time. :)

The clock is a live wallpaper -- WP Clock:

and because I can't stand the Sense 3.0 carousel and paged app drawer, I'm using Go Launcher Ex which allows for over 9 home screens.

I just ordered one off of Amazon. It was about $18 vs. the $20 MSRP. It should be in within the week and I will leave a little note about it. It looked like the perfect solution for setting my phone up on my desk at work. I like it over a dock due to the versatility in where you can mount it and what screen orientation you prefer at the time, plus you can leave your case on your phone.

Doh! I didn't even think about Amazon. I read about it in an article so I just went to the company's website. Thank you... I may just go ahead and give it a try! :)

I haven't seen that stand, but if I were to do something a little more minimal, I would get the iCarpus:

You save only a couple bucks, but every penny helps! I'm rather intrigued by this "stand" or whatever it is called.
