the mall lady killed my Droid!

So I went to the mall last night and saw a Ghost Armor kiosk and thought, what the heck, and had the lady put it on. Afterwards, the phone was pretty hot which she said was normal, and I waited til it cooled down before turning it back on...

Now, my Droid comes out of sleep mode whenever it feels like, I'll put it back into sleep mode and it will pop right back on. Also, often when I open up a website, it will automatically scroll down by itself and wont let me select anything. This scroll problem also happens in all other apps, such as contacts etc.

I unrooted back to stock 2.01, hoping it would go away, but it has not. Also did it in case I have to exchange it.

Any suggestions? Or should I just return it?

Did she use lots of water? Sounds like she messed up the screen somehow also. I would definitely return it, then take a bill to the lady at kiosk.

Using the cheap, "rip-off" crap at the mall, sold by less than minimum wage commission sales person will get you exactly what you deserve. CRAP!

The phone is very expensive. Why would you put a crappy Mall case on it?

Ghost Armor isn't cheap rip off crap. It is very high quality, obviously the lady who applied it didn't know what she was doing though.

One such incident almost cost me my phone. The clip on the case broke and it fell off when I got in the car. Luckily, I saw it on the ground before I drove off, or worse, over it! Did that once too! I second that. The phone accessories from the mall are crap.

But I do buy my Zippos from the mall. They are fine.

Yea those kiosks in the mall with light up antennas and fake ed hardy cases usually are all crapola. My ex gf had a old nokia and we got one of the light up antennas, the guy putting it on ripped the antenna apart and then said he wasn't responsible. We ended up taking him to small claims because he never said he wasn't responsible until AFTER he destroyed it, and they had no signs stating so anywhere on the kiosk. This is when a candybar nokia with black and white screen costed like $800 bucks.

Well.......It's a b*tch to install. I've had mine for about a month now, and it's starting to peel a little on the sides and it tends to gather A LOT of lint. It's a good product, but after heavy use of the phone, it doesn't hold up.

Your not supposed to power on the device for I believe 8 hours? Still I'd give it 3 days and let the moisture under the skin to fully dry and for everything to cure. I've used many of these types of skins and the moisture underneath could be throwing the capacitive screen off. 3 days and if you still have a problem then I'd go back to the mall lady. Also as posted above check all the moisture stickers.

Its like window tint. Soapy baby shampoo liquid and a squeegie. I think an 8 hour dry+ woud be wise until powerup. Mall lady owes you a new phone.

I installed my phantomskinz with water and i just let it dry over night I think. A few times I had the phone freak out on me. It would start randomly clicking things on the screen and become unusable. It happened a few times and then I remembered that the touch screen was heat sensitive. So when I would leave my phone in my pocket with the screen facing toward me I think the phantomskin would get warm and start messing with the touch screen. Then it would go away after a few minetes of me using it and it cooling off.

That my theory anyway. But if yours is going to sleep and coming out of it by its self then that's not the touch screen. Might be a good idea to let it dry out a bit more.

Speaking as a retired EE I would hazard a guess that putting a layer of non-conductive plastic on a capacitive touch screen will effectively increase the totally reactance of the touch screen system. (you're adding another capacitor in series). This may change the way the touch system works in unpredictable ways depending on several factors ... type of material, thickness and type of glue, etc.

For these and other reasons I've decided to go "naked" relying on the Motorola shell & holster to protect the screen. So far so good.

I have Ghost Armour on my Droid screen, and it has been working fine. It was installed professionally by a dude over @ Best Buy. My phone has worked flawlessly - no probs with the touch screen at all.

The Ghost Armour is effectively invisible on my Droid. I also have not had a single problem with the the film lifting up. About the only thing that has occurred is that a few very minor dings are visible in the Ghost Shield when I look at it from an angle (totally invisible when looking head-on). These probably occurred when I was carrying my Droid in my pocket, which means the screen was being protected.

The Best Buy Ghost Shield station had a small drying area, which had a small amount of heat and high speed fan to pull the moisture away from the devices within.

I was using my Droid approximately 1/2 hour after buying the installation. I was only told to avoid doing anything that would cause the Ghost Shield to lift up during the final curing process: Don't put it in any mounts or cases, don't put it in my pocket, etc. Just let it sit out in the open for approximately 24 hours, or until the minor ripples/bubbles disappeared.

So, for the few extra bucks, I would recommend going to a Best Buy and having it installed by the guy/gal who mans/womans the Ghost Shield station.

Also, I only purchased the Droid screen cover - not the full body cover. I believe that's the best way to go.

My sister does Ghost Armor at BestBuy, its good stuff, and I've had it on since I got my phone on release day, its good.

But the people that apply it can mess up, I don't know what happened in your case, and that sucks.

Update: it stopped screwing around completely! I have no idea what happened, but I think it was the extra moisture that was still around. I think the phone was hot because of the drying procedure they did.... but now it works good as new, the water-damage sticker is intact, and the screen is very responsive. I can't even tell there is a protector on.

Very weird and scary, but thanks, guys. I really appreciate the input. Now I just have to get my phone back to specs with sweeterhome, etc.

I also had some problems with the screen when my phone was heated up while surfing. It started registering random inputs, but after it cooled down, it came back to normal.
