Hi everyone. I am thinking about getting myself a G1 since my contract with t-mo is almost over, and the only thing keeping me back is the battery life. I know I could always get the bulky extended battery but since it's ugly lol I had a question. Did they make any batteries that are normal sized and have the same battery life as the bulky one? If so please tell me.

No luck on that ... the Li-Ion cells that make up cell-phones are approximately the same size ... multiples of each cell are added together to arrive at the needed voltage level ... say 3 cells of 1.2 to 1.5 volts to get a total of 3.6 to 4.5 volts.
Then their physical size will determine the capacity or mAh mill-amp hours of current. so to get more current you need larger cells or multiples of those cells ... which is the case with the thicker battery 6 cells as opposed to 3 cells ...

Just a issue of physics ...

Ok thanks for the help but in that case, whats the best bulky battery and is there a cool case for it?

Still, there is the issue of battery.
Could someone post a link to where you got the battery and the sweet standing charger (someone mentioned either here on some other post)?

If you don't need a physicial keyboard, why not wait until more Android phones come out? The G2 will be out soonish and Samsung will have phones out this year.

Yeah !!
I want to jump on the next Android phone without knowing about it's limitations....
NOT !!!

I say let someone else be the Guinea Pig this time around !

Hey, you G1 owners did the brunt of the work :D

The next HTC phones should be pretty good since they went through the G1. Android 1.5 should help out the software.

Samsung's first try could have some "quirks" so what I would do is wait a few months for the early adopters to try them out and then see what's up with Samsung. Especially with the soft keyboard.

If anyone is thinking about a new Android model, Definately the wait an see what falls out as the Cons of the new unit are reveled -- before making a leap ...

Hope we have as active a group of posters fro any new phone as we have for the G1 !!
