What a joke. Im so angry at the moment. Two days before i got on holiday as well. BRILLIANT:mad:

Who will fix this? HTC? My network provider (T-mobile)? I stuck the phone on charge checked it a few minutes later and the bottom right hand side had cracked. The glass and everything works fine but the LCD is buggered. Can my consumer rights help me out?

What about the place i bought it from? Will they repair it? Mobiles.co.uk

Frankly I want to leave it till I get back from my holiday in two weeks. Is that ok?

Im going mental, i have so much to do regarding my holiday that im not really thinking straight.

What the hell do i do with this ?!:(

EDIT: Forgot to add, i got the phone in November so it has not been a year yet.

I would LOVE some help on this.

If you can prove that you had nothing to do with the damage, HTC should replace it under warrenty.... I cant see this happening.

If you dont have insurance with T mobile (Which seems un wise) get some now and claim in a week or so!!

Are they really strict then? (HTC)

I definitely had nothing to do with it. I left the phone to charge, came back to check it and the thing had cracked. Absolutely crazy, how does that even happen?

I don't have insurance because i am very careful with my phone. Now this happens and I did nothing but put it down on a table.

I won't be doing anything for 2 weeks since i go on holiday tomorrow.

Does the getting insurance now and claiming so soon really work?

I basically have three options. Ask HTC to sort this, Ask T-mobile or ask mobiles.co.uk where i got it from. Basically carphone warehouse. Since it hasn't been a year i think that will work well for me.

Anyway thanks for the advice.

Im hearing different things about HTC, some are saying that if you can prove it wasn't your fault then they will sort everything out. Best to try the direct route because T-mobile or mobiles.co.uk will probably end up sending it there anyway if they agree to fix it.

Anyway for the next two weeks i'm going to try and forget about it.

Enjoy your trip

Cheers.

Bump since i'm back from my holiday. Literally just got off the phone with HTC 30 seconds ago. They're picking the phone up tomorrow, now i need to back everything up. Any recommendations for that? Im not rooted so cant use titanium backup. Most of my junk can be chucked onto the SD card but i have no idea about things like contacts.

I wan't to backup absolutely everything, down to settings and every little thing. Is there anyway to do that without rooting?

Thanks for the advice.

Contacts should be backed up to your gmail account, as are the apps you've installed via the market. You'll lose app configs/game saves etc, but when you get your handset back, providing you link the handset to the same gmail account, they'll redownload themselves.

Load up the gmail account on a PC, select contacts, can you see the numbers on your device listed?

Also, are you on Gingerbread? With GB it saves certain settings to the Google Cloud (WiFi Info, which wallpaper you're using etc) so you might be ok there too.

Cheers, already had my calender and some contacts backed up to gmail, i've now got everything up on there. Also realised that i can backup my contacts to my sd card via an inbuilt setting so that was handy. For everything else i just mybackup which comes with a 30day trial. Didn't see the need to backup apps since everything is linked to your gmail account but i did it anyway in the slight chance it kept app data.

Should be ok after that I reckon. Going to do a factory reset later tonight and then box it up.

I love this, when I got my contract from 3 they over emphasised the super highly mega massively stupidly insane impact, scratch, shatter, nuclear proof screen. They pretty much told me if I held it in front of a nuclear detonation, it wouldn't be harmed! Mine has a few scratches after 3 months use, and I haven't dropped it on the face!

Get your phone insured and check how long it is before you can claim on your policy :)

I noticed something the other day about the dhd when it was turning on. when you press in the area of the search button on the bottom right of the phone it puts pressure on the lcd and makes the screen kind of ripple. This reminded me of this thread because the op said it was the bottom right side fo the screen that broke. I don't know if this is a design flaw or not but when you press on the bottom left side it doesn't do this. Is it just my phone that does this or has anyone else noticed it?

Got my phone back yesterday, had to go out so only had a quick look at it now. Everything seems in order. I'm hoping they haven't got any dust in the screen because that would be really annoying. Fixing one problem and creating another. Anyway now i want to buy a 32gb SD so my backup data will have to be transferred onto that. Going to be a week or so before i get all this back to working order.

Thanks again for all the advice on here lads and lasses!

Hate to keep updating this thread but i signed back into my gmail account and it didn't send my apps back to me, however many times i synced it up. Going through the mybackup files i have so i can restore it from there now.

Searching google some have said it could be because i opened the market before i synced the gmail account to my phone. Is there any truth in this?
