Release date is July 31st

FWIW, I was in a Sprint store yesterday (7/5/11) and the sales guy said he had UNofficially heard that the Photon would be available on 7/18 - one day before the VirginMobile Moto Triumph. As I said this is NOT an offiical date but seems to be the rumor within Sprint's own ranks. I put my name on a list and they said they'd call me when they're ready to take an order.

Yea, you would think if it were going to drop in July it would actually have the date by now.

Sprint didn't give the release date for the EVo3D two weeks before the release, so there is still some time for an official announcement.

I wouldn't get discourage just yet.

Seeing as Sprint doesn't seem to like mid-week releases, I am betting the release is going sometime around the 29th to the 31st.

That early? Wow, I hate to say I hope he's wrong. That's way sooner than I anticipated and might not have the cash set aside that I would've liked to have by then.

At the same time, I just couldn't see that happening, considering no official release date has been announced and they haven't really done any marketing for the release.

i dont think Sprint is a big fan of advertising before a device is released (ala nexus ,evo shift, conquer moto XPRT) I peronally think it is a real possibilty that this phone releases somewhere between july 18 -july 24. I dont know any "inside scoop " just kinda how i see this all going down. Also if i might add..... the samsung galaxy s2 has been rumored to be out sometime in july and i havent even heard of a official release of the phone from sprint. iknow , i know we have leaks of the phone bieng named the Samsung Within ...but it still has not been OFICIALLY announced by Sprint or any other company in the states for that matter. Basiclly just hurry up and come to me Photon ! before i change my mind and fall in love with another phone! A Whorre i am lol

Well you are saying "somewhere between july 18 -july 24." and someone else mentioned July 17, which makes sense since Sprint employees need to be trained on the features of the new phone (usually a day before) so both statements make sense.

As for you drex not having the money. its nothing a simple bank robbery can't handle. :D I plan on doing Chase, but hear Bank of America is easy too. :D

Not to get off topic, but which of the launchers is better? Do they cause more crashes, or eat batteries? Will this get rid of the motoblur stuff?....I am not a huge fan of the blur, but they might have improved it.

Im using Go Launcher and really like it so far. There were some widgets I miss a bit from Sense but overall its a big improvement over sense since it constantly crashes and reboots on me. I didnt notice any difference with battery life.

Since updating my Evo to Gingerbread it has become a huge p.o.s.! When I bought it from Best Buy they were just starting their Buy Back program & enrolled me free of charge. I plan on testing that program out as soon as the Photon is released (hopefully this month). If I upgrade within 6 months of the purchase date I get 1/2 of the retail price to put towards a new phone (Photon). I'm realllllllly hoping this is all they make it out to be.
