4G/SD Card Update (4G rolls out 9/29/11)

I talked to VZW customer retention and argued with them about it and they are letting me suspend my data contract until I get LTE.

Anybody can do this at any time right from the My Verizon App on their phone or tablet or from the My Verizon website.

Verizon and Moto promised this for summer, and the assumption can be made that many early adopters made their purchase with their little hearts full of hope and with the thought in mind that an update would come in summer. Do you think there will be ramifications for Vzw/Moto making false claims? Should there be ramifications? Should early adopters get something out of this as compensation? (And don't say the free upgrade because that's what I paid $800 for lol).

I just feel like there needs to be consequences for selling a product and not sticking to its marketing. Thoughts?

No real reason VZW/Moto can't provide SD support now. The Wi-Fi only Xooms recently received a software update that enabled SD use. The way I see it, any claim by VZW that they have to wait for the 4G upgrade to enable SD support is just plain bogus based on the recent update for Wi-Fi users only.

My SD card has been working in my 3G Xoom since the last OTA update...

Have you guys tried yours to see if it works?

My 4g upgrade has killed my battery life even though I keep mobile data off 99% of the time and use wifi. I can't figure out what's killing it but something in the new version of the OS is killing it.

Looking forward to having others get the upgrade so people brighter than me can figure out what's going on.

The 4g speed is nice but may not be worth it if they can't get the battery drain fixed.

Well here we are and summer is officially over and still no official word on the status of the 4G upgrade. I have tried to be patient and wait to speak to Verizon and Motorola but now that another promised date has passed its time to give them a call.

Let us know. I'm actually not sure I'm going to do the upgrade .. I really don't have that much need for it.

I called Verizon shortly after my last post. When I explained why I was calling the first CSR immediately asked if she could transfer me to a supervisor. After being on hold for less than a minute the next CSR explained that she was not a supervisor but she was in the loyalty department. I calmly explained why I was calling. She apologized about the lack of information and communication but told me she didn't have any idea when or if the upgrade would arrive. She then offered me some credits to my account for my troubles but I respectfully declined as that was not the purpose of my call. I am not looking for handouts I just want what I was led to believe I was purchasing. In the end the call left me exactly where I started before the call was placed. I will be calling Motorola next.
