Help X10 factory restore with nonresponsive touchscreen

My x10 got wet and the screen is nonresponsive. I did some research and found out that restoring the firmware would fix the problem. However, restoring the firmware requires that I connect the phone to the computer which I am not able to do since I would have to use the touch screen to 'mount' the phone. How can I connect the phone and have it recognized by the computer without using the touch screen??
Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to mount to do it if you do a factory reset using SEUS from Sony. You do have to have a working back button on the phone.

Download and install this

Xperia? X10 - Updateservice - Subject - Downloads - Mobile phones - Support - Sony Ericsson

It will guide you through it. It will want you to turn off the phone and then at the right time during the installation you will have to plug the USB cable into the computer while holding the back button. It will reflash the phone and do a factory wipe.

thanks a lot... it helped. I was unable to get my screen working though... Are there any other things I can do to resurrect my phone or should I just toss it??

Make sure there is no protector or screen sticker or anything.

Otherwise it might need to be repaired.

$30-$70 for a replacement touch screen for the x10. Ebay or online stores.

Please just be aware that due to the cause of the issue being liquid damage it may not be the screen that is at fault, it may be the main board of the phone. Personally I would advise simply trying the rice trick: Open the phone up as much as possible and place the handset in a bowl of dry uncooked rice in a warm dry place for an extended period of time, this an often bring the handset back to life.

LOL....I like how you specified uncooked. HEheheheh....would be funny if someone chucked their phone in a bunch of cooked rice.
