Root Did I just make a big mistake? DX2

I doubt the dev community will go after the X2 as hard as the X.

The X was a real flagship phone, better by far than anything else in the lineup at the time. The X2 is just an incremental upgrade - only a year after the X, so 2-year contract people aren't out of their contracts, and probably not a substantial enough upgrade to entice people to drop the cash on an early upgrade.

I think a lot of X owners are in the same boat I am - pretty happy with their phones, excited about the 2nd-init options we have now, and don't see the X2 as enough of an upgrade to warrant the extra bucks without a contract discount. There are newer, flashier phones like the Galaxy S II and the Bionic waiting in the wings, with the S2 definitely having an unlocked bootloader, and the Bionic might follow the Atrix and have an unlocked bootloader as well.

So, not much reason to jump ship, and when I do make a move, it will be to leapfrog the X2 and move straight to another phone.

Bingo!^^^

There will probably end up being SOME roms that get put out for the X2...but its dev community is nearly non existent and I don't see any reason to believe that is going to change at all....

I picked up a slightly used DX2 at a good price. Here is my take. It's really not much better as-is than our DX. Screen is brighter/better colors. Camera "may" work a bit better. Dual core clocks at around 2800 quadrant. But unless you are pushing the phone on a heavy game, it makes little difference. It isn't GB yet, but really GB on the X is way overated anyway. In some ways I prefer froyo honestly. But they skinned it to look almost exactly like 2.3 regardless. In short, it's got some real potential, but probably won't have devs jump on until it gets GB and has CW and nandroid backups available. It will never have the following the DX has with phones like the Bionic just around the corner.

All I have to say is "X2, bad choice", sorry ;)

lol agreed

lol you should help them out trophy, or bring em to the forums so they become members, refer them to us!!! ^_^

hell i would except there really isn't much to do for them if they're on a DX2. When they were on DX1's i kept them up to speed on things. Besides they're are not as big of a computer nerd as me and would just rather rely on me to keep them up to date lol.

I had an upgrade since february, but no phone worthy of upgrading to that came out on verizon. Didn't even use that on the DX2 I got. Will probably use it on the Bionic or SGS2 depending on how they actually operate in real world use. I have a brand new (refurb) DX that I just got from Verizon still in the box, and my DX2 which I am currently using. Ohh and my new Asus Transformer tab/keyboard dock too. Lots of toys currently. :)

I do like the screen on the x2. It's pwetty! I'm not getting as it's not a major upgrade, enough to warrant my serious attention as a purchase, though.

I've seen some posts that show the X2 screen looking really jaggie. I've personally never seen one in person and was just curious if you noticed anything like that. Thanks Steven :)
