I have the Technic battery pack which is similar. They are a great way of dealing with battery issues since they are so small in your pocket where they sit charging your phone. Easier than changing batteries in my view. At the risk of upsetting you that SD card is

It says 1 amp output, which I think is the output of a plug socket (USB being 0.5 amp).

It says it is able to charge a device with 1A.
But the phone decides to be charged with "AC" (=1A) or with "USB" (=0.5A).

That is why I asked the OP
For the answer, the OP should look at Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery status > Charging (AC) or Charging (USB)

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, I found this in the reviews:

- 2 output charging ports, one for iPhone/iPad (5V 1A), the other for most other mobile devices (5V 0.5A) (comes with mini-USB adapter, but you can use your own device's USB cable)

So I guess the only deciding factor is which port you plug it into? Because it would be odd if the phone decided to only take half the power being provided.

I have two mobile charger (JustMobile Gum Pro and JustMobile Gum Plus).
Both have 5V/1A output.
- Pro charge my DHD with "AC" like the original HTC charger which came with the phone.
- Plus charge my DHD only with "USB".

The DHD "knows" to charge with "AC" because the charger's USB socket is coded.
The HTC car charger also has this "AC coding" in its microUSB plug.

I would like to know whether I could use the TrendMate with a simple USB data cable for charging my DHD with "AC" (=1A) Because with "USB" charging the DHD needs double time for a full charge.

USB mode I tried all the ports and different cables! And the buttons as well!

Harry, I just added currentwidget (free from market) to measure the current. Max for charger and battery pack is 750ma and with usb mode about 450ma.

The issue on investigation is simple: In the OEM charger the USB socket has D+ and D- shorted and the standard OEM cable is a data cable. But as the charger has shorted plug it shors the cable, which results in the DHD detecting it as a charger in the new system and drawing upto 1A.

In the Trent (or any usb charger like what you have) the USB port still has D+ and D-, so a standard cable, ends up having active lines, meaning the DHD gets confused when it sends interrogation data down the D+ D- lines and it then falls back to USB mode so as not to overdraw the max 500ma permitted for usb on a pc and damage it.

Now the supplied OEM cable for the Trent has an adopter which effectively shorts out D+ and D- resulting in the full potential capacity being available for the DHD.

Like me if you want to have a working Data cable when you travel get one of the usb extension leads (they used to come with flash drives etc) and open the device side (NOT computer side!!) and short out D+ and D- on the device side, insulate D+ and D- from the PC side. Then reassemble, use this with your charger that can support up to 1A, and use any data cable with it! NEVER use this in the PC!!

PS you can also buy cables that have a microswitch to convert between data and sync, but they are expensive and can't find any in the uk yet.

because of these shortened data pins I use the that (curled) cable of HTC car charger for charging up to 1A.
That cable also would work with the Trent, I'm sure

For what I'm looking out is a mobile charger which can charge up to 1A without the aid of "special" USB cables or adaptors (like my JustMobile Gum Pro).
Because I lose adaptors and forget cables to take with
