Hats off to you, seriously.. i mean i knew there was carrieriq (which allows you to monitor every keypress, application launch etc..) installed on the prevail, but this.. well this even threw off some of teh top epic devs

inside teh kernel is a file called init.rc, its what tells what to launch on startup

and here is a copy of it (if you dont believe me pull the file right off your phone, even the people who are rooted stock can prove im right)
on emmc mkdir /system mkdir /data 0771 system system mkdir /p - Pastebin.com

now i dont expect everyone to read thru it, so i will highlight the point of interest

## Sprint 3rd party - LogMeIn - js0516.park
chown nobody.shell /RescueStarter
chmod 755 /RescueStarter
chown nobody.shell /RescueServer
chmod 755 /RescueServer

#Start RescueStarter for Rescue+Mobile
service RescueStarter /system/bin/RescueStarter
user nobody
group input graphics
oneshot

for anyone who doesnt know who/what they are...

what does this all mean? you guys have a remote access backdoor enabled on your phone every boot. a process which is constantly running draining your battery, not too much unlike ciq.

now tell me, how many of you feel safe knowing boost can remote access your phone at any moment?

Working in tech support myself, I can completely understand why they would want to be able to remote control the phone for support reasons.

My company installs remote access sofware if a customer installs a support tool, but it's never used unless the customer consents and they request the help.

Besides all of that though, there should always be a way to opt out.

Right but this is a new turn of events, samsung (to my knowledge) has never done this before, nor has sprint.

my concerns with it are rather simple.. imagine if your tethering and using a lot of data, they remote on in and see your rooted and have tethering apps. thats a violation of TOS.. they disconnect your phone service.

not saying tahts what they are doing, but honestly its possible

too good to be true. I'll enjoy it thetering till I'll get disconected. i been a loyal customer to boost for several years an d is kinda sad to hear that. screw them. im paying for it for their spotty service. let me know if you get to removed that backdoor to the system. I'll do it on my phone.

I feel the same way . Who are they to tell me what to do with what I pay for ? I've been w/ Boost for several years and will continue to be a loyal customer if they wanna act right . If not , I'll find another carrier .

Tell me, not that I expect this would be used or not often. Could they use this to remotely activate your mic? and or Camera? very neat hidden bug.

test kernel

sets adb for root
sets adb on boot even if you factory reset
closes this backdoor

before i move forward and maybe make an error , I DL'd the shabby kernel tar, when i get into ODIN i select ops and under PDA slot i choose shabby kernel tar file , at that point i get invalid image type .. just let me know if i missed something

I thought I would be adventurous, I chose to check mark one package then the kernel, it is working right now. Hope I didnt mess up lmao.

eh I think I am going to have to start over, sitting for over 3 mins on the samson screen

I've tried it twice already and it stays on the Samsung Prevail load screen. All I can say is thankyou Odin!!!!! LOL
