I would like to limit my messages per person to 300 or so, not limit the total number of my texts, or by date. Anyone know of an app for this? Some of my conversations come up extremly slow on the stock messages app due to nearing k messages between that person and myself. Using a Hero if that matters.

In the settings you can set it up to have a limit of messages per conversation. Is that not exactly what you want?

Yes that sounds exactly like what I want, cept I don't seem to have that choice.

My settings options:

SMS settings
Priority setting
MMS settings
Auto-retrieve
Priority setting
Maximum message size
Connection settings
Received messages
Received notification
Play notification sound
Notification sound
Vibrate
Sent Messages
Sent Notification
Failure notification
Play notification sound
Notification sound
Vibrate

I can't find any settings to limit the amount of messages..?

It seems that as always HTC managed to screw things up and not include this option in their messaging client.

In fact, the sms messgaes are grouped by phone numbers (at least in my phone), and you could just long press the item, until it shows you the menu, then, choose the delete session to delete the whole session, including all messages in the session.

Pretty much exactly what I do not want, I've also found apps that can delete all but a certain amount of total messages, or messages older than a certain time, but these are also not what I am looking for.

So, is there maybe another sms app that does include this option? I added handcent yesterday and I'm not seeing it in there either.. :(
