Official HTC Inspire Gingerbread Update Rumor Thread

Don't know when we will receive gingerbread, both HTC and ATT said we will receive it this summer. We still have one more month to go and there is still not a leaked ROM for it. When we see the leak appear on the tech sites, it will be mere weeks before we start seeing it being pushed to nonrooted devices. There is no guarantees the update won't make annoying problems after updating, just loom at the updates for the EVO, and couple other HTC devices. Just tells me HTC or the carrier didn't run it through one last quality control test before being pushed out. Unknown Sources option should be there on your device already. If not call or chat with ATT support about pushing the enable code to you device. To answer the question, no, the update should not affect that option at all. If does just call ATT and they will push the code back to your phone.

From what I understand what is for the Desire is also for the Inspire.

Desire HD is the related model to the inspire and thunderbolt. Desire HD already has gb officially I'm pretty sure. Desire is a lower spec older phone. (that is getting GB later than newer phones it seems)

You just have to give them time to build in all the blockbuster, at&t nav, uverse tv BS into the rom.

Head over to XDA root your phone (yes void warranty but hey wtf have some fun) and there are several GB roms already running on the Inspire.

Am running this rom Virtuous Unity v1.29.0 which is GB 2.3.3 and Sense 3.0. Smooth as butter battery life is excellent get about 15 hrs with 2 hrs screen some texting calling and surfing.

Hey,
About the update for the inspire... I have had a few issues with my device with third party apps, support cannot get the update through att to allow the device to download third party apps. So I have been working with tech support for the last two months. They have finally stated that the fix for the issue is going to be an update to 2.3.... which they stated would be in the next two weeks.

did they tell me this to make me happy? We shall see... but that was the conversation i had wed with the guy who was working on my case....

At least from ATT....

yea i think the problem is more ATT and less HTC and Google. Especially since the Desire HD BEEN HAD Gingerbread. They are pretty consistent with bad update schedules.ed. Captivate still is not upgraded. Backflip........dont get me started. BB Bold 9000 only got official OS5 (FIVE....which is way old) in like December/January from ATT. G2 already has GB like the DHD, Droid X has it.....I could go on and on

By captivated still is not upgraded are you talking about to GB? It was updated to froyo in February (which is like 6 months or so after they said they would be releasing it) but I don't think it will ever see GB.

I bought an Inspire 4G on July 4th. It has 2.2.1 and does NOT have the 3rd party software capability. I've chatted with ATT tech support multiply times. They say theyve tried pushing to me multiple times and i still don't have the update. I don't know what the problem is..... Spoke with an ATT mobile rep that helped me with the crossupgrade when i bought the phone and he is going to try to get to the bottom of the issue. He thinks they say they are pushing me the update but in reality the are just trying to get me off the chat.....

It's an OTA update, as far as I know. When they are pushing it to you are you on Data ONLY?? I'd say to make sure you have wifi turned OFF for at least a few hours after they try to push it.
