In the top left corner on the taskbar with the other mini icons, I have an envelope icon with an exclamation point on it. I am trying to get rid of this, but can't figure it out. I have tried clearing out my mailbox and that doesn't do the trick. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this?

Much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

I think so, but can you let me know how to do that so I can make sure? Thanks for the tip.

Pull down the top bar (the notification bar where you have the email notification ) and press clear notifications.

And just like the persona above me said, see if you have any emails that didnt send.

I havent seen the notification like you have, so I am just guessing right now =)

You might want to check in ur Messages/Handcent or whichever u use, when you have the ! like this beside it in red, means its failed delievery. Open up the message that its on and then click the red ! and hit Retry:~)

CHECK Ur messages, might be a failed one ...OR PULL down the notification bar and read what it says beside the envelope.

You guys were right. I didn't know how to pull down the notification bar. Thanks for the help and patience.

One other side question: how can I set the volume to "alarm only" so that my alarm blasts what I have selected but phone calls and text messages don't trigger the ringer?

That is a great question. Sorry but i do not know the answer. I just tested my alarm, and it doesnt seem to be possible.

I have an HTC desire S, and I have a white envelope with exclamation mark at the top, just like the previous poster here has. However, when I pull down the notifications, it says Unable to sent mail. The account setting is incorrect.
I press the message and it takes me to Edit Account. It has my hotmail address which is correct. It then says Next
It then gives me Incoming settings which are
Protocol
Email Address
Username
Password
POP server
Security type
and Server port
and then it says Next.
When I press Next it says checking account information
Then it comes up with a warning saying 'Authenication failed. Please verify your username/password and 'OK'

The thing is I have sent some test emails to my hotmail account and they are in my inbox within seconds

I cannot get the icon removed. I don't know what to do as I'm not very technical so any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

I don't want to mess about with any settings on my phone in case I completely bring it to a halt.
