I'm gonna kill you. You just saboutaged my poll! ;p

The question is, will the price difference be big enough between G2 and Nexus (and other Snapdragon+AMOLED+3,7" phones which are going to fall out in near time) to consider buying something maybe excellent in hardware, but with knowing of Galaxy 1's past. Still, it WILL have 2.1 at start.

hell no, maybe I'll consider buying it if Samsung would offer a discount for those who had the Galaxy, some kind of buy-back program, beta testers have to be rewarded somehow :D But since something like that is very unlikely to happen my next device will probably be the Bravo or the SE X10, this time i'll wait at least 2 months after their launch date :)

i will never buy another Samsung product. I talked to a friend in the industry who said that the Korean companies in general have a history of racing on to the next phone model and failing to support older ones.

everyone i know with an HTC product is happy with it (including him--and he doesn't work for HTC). they will get my money next time.

i will also look for a phone with a bigger user base. how many heroes are out there vs. galaxies? anyone know?

Good point. Only real contender is Maemo, but Nokia needs to prove they can update features of their phones for at least two years. Is there an update for N800 to latest N900 features? If no, then I say we have only Android atm.
It can be. There are so-called "Hacker Edition" updates for older Maemo systems so Nokia maybe will upgrade N800.
With Android problem is with manufacturers - they prefer to create new device with next Android verions than updrade old one :( Google releases "naked" Android and then Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Acer etc must create updates for it's devices. And Nokia has only one Maemo5 device, and one N800 so upgrades are simpler :)

No I wouldn't!
Just because phones like these have to be updated, they can't finish their life cycle after 6 months, even after one year!

So, if samsung will upgrade galaxy to 2.0 and will continue as long as other companies do it maybe i could buy a galaxy 3 (or 4) :)

Otherwise is better to choose something that will receive support for long time (maybe google experience phones)

Im not so much disappointed in Samsung, as i am in Android.
It just isn't what its supposed to be or what i was expecting it to be, too many things arent working or arent implemented.
A mayor disappointment for me was the lack of a normal VPN client/connectivity since i need it badly for my work. Most of the apps are just too simple, lacking advanced options, like the camera software, which should be more advanced, regardless of the hardware, and thats just an example, there is lots of issues like that. Also the customization of the phone was a disappointment, u cant even change themes, icons, fonts without proper payable apps, and that realy sux.
If you ask me, cupcake 1.5 is the alpha version of Android and with 2.1 we are geting a beta software, not even near a fully functional and more importantly useful operating system.
My friend owns a htc hd, running WinMo 6.5 and i can honestly say, although i dont like Micro$oft, that it eats Android for breakfast. I realy dont like WinMo and it sux coz its not open source, but still it works like it should most of the time, something i can't say for the Android.
I will continue to use the Galaxy till my subscription ends and closely monitor the development on the Android ( that is if we ever get a normal, fully working 2.x rom anyway ), but i doubt i will be buying an Android device ever again, regardless of the hardware manufacturer, because it is clearly inferior to most mobile operating systems.

You've clearly not used WinMo for any length of time. Wait till you discover it's frozen in your pocket for the nth time and you've missed multiple calls

I concur.

Lack of copy-paste in Gmail, messages disappearing in GTalk, new
applications not working on prior OS versions which have a
lifespan of six months or so... the whole Android experience is rather
beta-ish.

Would I buy from Samsung again? Sure. I don't get all emotional about
corporations. I definitely don't like how they handle public relations
with their customers (us) and I'd take that into consideration when
deciding how high a price I'm ready to pay.
