Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

I am giving another shout-out for Lookout which is an app that provides security for your phone in scanning for malware, spyware, etc., in all the apps you download on your phone as well as when you click on links or surf the web. It also analyzes apps that access your private information such as location, contacts and messages. You can back-up all your data, locate, lock, scream or wipe your phone in case it is stolen. You can do this all from the Lookout website once you register.

I have the premium version which is $2.99 a month or $29.99 for a year (kind of pricey) but it definitely works great, I notice no excessive battery drain and it really is great piece of mind. They have the free version also which does not include all of the above but definitely provides good basic protection! :)

Lookout caused freezes and random reboots on my X. Since I removed it my X has been running great.

If you want to use an antivirus, you might try BitDefender to see how your phone does with it. I like it because it catches just as much as Lookout, doesn't use much of your resources and doesn't try to do much more than be an antivirus. Every time I had Lookout locate my phone, it was about a mile away from where I was at. There are other phone finder apps that do a better job of that and MyBackup Pro is a better backup program.

I've never been a big fan of apps/programs that try to do everything because they usually don't do any of them as well as other stand alone programs. I also prefer app's/programs with a one time fee that I don't have to pay for every year. Right now, Bitdefender is free and doesn't have any ads.

And I have no connection with BitDefender other than liking the way it works.

I do the exact same thing, and use Keyboard Manager to automatically switch keyboards when I switch orientation.

HOLY cow there is such a thing?????
i am looking into this and downloading it NOW

I can't type in landscape. So I am quite happy with Swift Key overall. Really glad it was free!

I am sure Lookout does not work the same for everyone, but for me, it works great. It is not a resource hog on my phone. It located my phone to exactly where I live (and I live in the middle of the mountains) and I am very happy with it. I definitely think it was worth the money and as I said previously, the piece of mind it gives me makes the cost worth every penny. I even put it on my daughter's new phone. But if I notice that in time, it is not doing what it should, it is great to know there are other apps out there like BitDefender and MyBackup Pro. This is what makes this thread great...learning about the many options that are out there! :)

For backing up apps, it depends on if you are rooted or not. If you are not rooted MyBackup Pro is the best, if you are rooted Titanium Backup is the best, and yes I have used both. Titanium backup is definitely better, but if for some reason you don't want to root, then stick with MyBackup Pro.
thanks so much! I've been wondering how to do this.

Wafa510, I have used Lookout and had no problems with it working, or slowing down my phone. I just have other preferences and since ozzzy3z had problems with it, I was suggesting an alternative.

I understand why you were suggesting an alternative! I just wanted to re-iterate that I have no problems with Lookout and it is definitely worth a try, and it is a great app! :)

1) NewsRoom:
IMHO the best RSS client (does not sync with google reader). I like it because it fetches most content for offline viewing. Also the Instapaper integration is great.
2) PlayerPro:
The only player I could get to sync play counts and ratings to iTunes. Of course you need iSyncr to accomplish that.
3) iSyncr:
For iTunes sync of play counts and ratings. The only thing that really works.
4) Bedside:
A nice night clock with lots of functions.
5) ProximityScreenOff:
If i am on my bike and listening to music via bluetooth, this is a must.
6) Remote for iTunes:
If you have iTunes as a juke box in your home, this is a must.
7) Springpad:
Note taking app with synchronization on the cloud. Works better than evernote when offline. I hated evernote because it has bad implementation for offline viewing.
8) Smart Keyboard Pro:
I have extensively tried, I think, all of the better keyboards on the market, and I must say this is the best keyboard for Android. SwiftKey is a close second. I have a love/hate relationship with Swype.... And at the end I type much faster now with Smart Keyboard Pro.
9) Dolphin Browser HD:
As a second browser. I love HTC's built in browser.
10) JustPictures:
For viewing my Flickr albums. Also nice local gallery.
11) Skype:
No need for explanation.
12) iGo:
IMHO still the king of european navigation
13) Transdroid and TorrentSearch plugin:
For handling all my torrenting needs ;o)
14) RockPlayerLite:
A player for anything the built in player does not play...
15) Endomondo:
Sport tracker app.
16) QuickDial:
A nice quick dialer for in car use (with the dock)
17) Aldiko:
IMHO the best e book reader.
18) ClockSync
For clock synchronization
19) ES File Explorer
20) Dropbox
