Asurion has no more incredibles

Tried to get a new phone through their online claim page and was DENIED! This is phone #5 or so that has a blown external speaker but the reply was that isn't an insurable issue and it was a malfunction that Verizon has to handle. Well my 1 year warranty is gone so I don't see them doing anything either. I think I will cancel the Asurian insurance, whats the point if they won't trade me out for a phone that works 100%?

you have to call... the online form will always tell you that if it is a manufacturer's defect because there is no where to say that your warrenty is up. if you tell a rep that, they will give you a new phone. All you have to do is pay for the deductible.

Or you could just break the screen and put that on the form... broke is broke :p

Because you have INSURANCE, and not the extended warranty. Do you get mad at you're car insurer because they won't cover you if you're transmission breaks?

To be fair, he is legitimately trying to get a replacement. Isn't his fault he keeps getting defective products.

Not if he's trying to get Extended Warranty coverage when he's just paying for insurance (ok, I don't know if that's the case).

EDIT: to the OP, many times "blown" speakers just have metal stuck inside then, which you could remove with a magnet and be good to good. If the speaker has actually blown, you can replace the speaker for a lot less than you'd pay for the deductible.

Ready for this...? My brother-in-law purchased his Inc this past November/December and it was an SLCD. He dropped it about two months ago and shattered the screen. He lived with it for a while until he dropped it again and now it is worse. Well long story short he received his Asurion replacement and it is a hardware version 0002. Now unless I am mixing up my hardware versions, wouldn't this mean he has an AMOLED? Thought that was interesting, and reassuring in case my AMOLED breaks.

As a side note, my AMOLED Inc (owned since release date) says hardware version 0003...I am contacting the dev of the ROM I am using to see if this is a program issue.

And lastly, to follow up to the OP that I posted some time ago. My mother-in-law eventually did get an Inc replacement from Asurion.

Yes, I pretty much put most of my family on Incredibles.

That's all I got. Thanks for reading.

When alltell existed, I walked into the store with a broken phone, only to have them comment that I was not elligible for a replacement as I had made 2 claims in the last year and never notified me I would not be elligible for another phone. Yet I was still paying for insurance? Don't buy insurance... Its so much easier to just go out and buy a new/used phone on amazon or ebay than it is to go through 17 god damn refurbished paper weights.

Dropped my Dinc Friday night and the screen smashed. Called Asurion this morning and without saying anything they told me "Sir they aren't making Incredibles anymore, will you accept an Incredible2 as a replacement?". Ummmm yeah. I'll have the Dinc2 tomorrow. And about the Deductible... It used to be $50 for ALL phones. At some point in the last 2 years they raised it to $90 but if you insured your phone prior to the rate increase you still only pay $50. So for $50 Im getting a Dinc2 without any hassle.

This isn't true. Asurion (Verzon's insurance) Cancels your policy after two claims (within a year)

Current policy below
Advanced Devices

  • $6.99 per month per covered device.
  • $99 non-refundable deductible per approved claim.
  • 2 replacements in a 12-month period with an equipment maximum of $1500 per claim (in New York, 2 claims per policy year).

When I call Verizon to try to get my Dinc replaced am I getting assurion on the line or do I call assurion directly? last time I got my Dinc replaced I dialed 611? Is that the same as dialing assurion?

611 is Verizon's customer support, what you receive through them is usually WARRANTY service.

A lot of folks get confused when talking about replacing their phones.

If your phone is under 1 yr and you take it to Verizon with a issue (not "I dropped it") this is warranty.

If your phone is over a year or you dropped it, lost it, etc. This is insarance replacement. (If you talk to 611 they'll direct you to Asurion's number)

While we're being pedantic, if your phone and develops a defect, and you need an Extended Warranty, not just insurance.

Insurance covers damage from accidents and lost/stolen devices, but nothing that would be covered under warranty.

Personally I think all phone insurance is a waste for most users (unless you're at a very high risk of breaking your phone). And I refuse on principle to PAY for warranty coverage after a year for something Verizon is making me take a 2 year contract on.

But that's just me.

i completely agree with you that we dont get a two year warranty is complete crap but i know my track record with cell phones so i just pay the extra and i know between me and my mom the amount of phones we have had thought warranty replacements alone have paided for the the two years we will be on contract and then SOME lol yeah its that bad
