Ok so guys... I'm very seriously considering purchasing a Charge. Here's the thing... I really think that this is the only real 4G option on Verizon.

I don't like touch wiz but... I've heard that you can change the font. Is this true and can you change it throughout the OS?

If thats true I can almost make it go away with a new keyboard and a stock launcher.

I'm also concerned about the single core processor, over all build quality, battery life (some say it's great, easily getting a full day others say it sucks) so... what is it? And finally I'm deeply concerned about the ability of this phone to stay current with Ice Cream sandwich on the horizon in combination with this phones lack of a qHD screen and dual core processor as well as Samsung's truly slow update pace.

Also concerning is the upcoming release of the Droid Bionic because last time it had a nearly 2000mAh battery and I suspect that would be handy. Though I wouldn't buy it if it's truly going to be a 4.5" display.

In addition I'm curious about this... it has TW3 will the gingerbread update bring TW4 or TW3GB?

Can you guys please respond to these concerns (really curious about the font thing bc the scripty TW font is HORRIBLE) and let me know what you think about buying this phone.

The Touch Wiz point is rather moot considering there are so many other options available. If you root (recommended) you can install a custom ROM sans Touch Wiz and all the bloatware. There are also a number of Gingerbread ROMs available as well if you don't feel like waiting for the official release. If you don't want to root there's always Launcher Pro or any other launcher replacement.

The battery life varies depending on whether or not you live in a good 4G area. Those who's phones are constantly searching for a signal experience significantly poorer battery life than those who live in better coverage areas. General usage is also a huge factor.

The Super AMOLED Plus display is BEAUTIFUL. There's really no current comparison because everything else falls short. I'm coming from a Fascinate which won awards with it's display, and this phone blows it out of the water. Not sure how qHD will compare but I don't see how it could be much better.

If you can afford to wait a couple months there will definitely be some beastly devices available. But if you want the best currently available I vote whole heartedly for the Charge. Once I rooted and installed the latest Froyo Gummycharge I never looked back. Couldn't be happier with my device now.

I have had my DC now for 2 months and I did mild root, basically just the kernel and CWM so I could freeze some of the VZ bloatware using Titanium Backup Pro. I just Go Launcher which essentially hides Touch Wiz. The battery life will depend on how you use it. People say 4G sucks battery, I disagree, I find the phone at idle is very good on battery even with 4G on. It all depends on what apps you use and how they use battery. I find when I use Pinger's TextFree app my battery drain is horrible, even with the app sitting idle because I assume it constantly polls. What I did originally is run the phone stock for a week or 2 to get a feel for it and what to expect. And while many hate Touch Wiz I was OK with it, maybe because it is very Apple like and I have an iPad2. The display is the biggest battery drain, run the screen at the lowest brightness and you will be fine, but if you use the phoen for a lot of apps and such you will see the battery drain. I did pick up the extended battery and cover which I use when traveling and it easily last through day with moderate to heavy use.
