Where is Iron Man 2?

The movie player.apk file just interprets the files located in the iron man folder. That folder is located at the root of your sd card. it's usually a hidden folder, but you can change that around and open it by selecting to view hidden files. However, the data inside is encrypted and will only work with the movie player apk provided on the phone.
That apk is not on basix, but you cam always get it by searching this very sub forum for movie player.apk (i remember receiving it a while back from someone).

For what it's worth, there's no reason I can see to want it back. It's better to just stream the movie or rent it and watch it on the big screen. Use that extra space for your pics and apps instead.

and tiede is right you wont see the folder unless on windows u enable see hidden folders which can be easily done on xp by going to my computer then click tools at top then folder option then
click the view tab and scroll down to where u see hidden files and folders and select show hidden files and folders.

or for windows 7

1.Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

2.Click the View tab.

3.Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK

hope this helps.

i love learning as much as i love helping. to assume a person knows it all and cant learn something new is silly. i read in a old thread on howardforums that perhaps this movie was only streamed to our phone and wasnt actually on our phone dont know if any can confirm this i know we have devs in this part of the forum that might be able to confirm that or not. but not so sure i have my doubt that file weighs enough to be a video file.

Yeah. That was an earlier rumor. The file is proven to be on the phone. Proof? Start the movie, about 5 seconds in, place the phone on airplane mode, and the movie will still continue playing. The confusion was because the phone needed an internet connection to *start* the movie.
But that connection is to verify the integrity of the file and authenticate that the request is from a legitimate user watching on an indulge...yeah, big brother *cough* metropcs *cough* is paranoid too...

Weirdness! I downloaded MoviePlayer.apk and put it in /system/apps and rebooted. I then see Iron Man 2 back in my drawer, but when I try to run it I get "This title cannot be played in the rooted device (1).

Any ideas why? Or whether I'm getting this from Basix (why would K0nane do that?) or some other part of the OS?

Oh wow! Did the app ask you for root access?
I strongly doubt it would be k0nane. In fact, I'd almost be willing to bet on it.
The only thing I can think of would be the app checking for root access before playing the movie, as a fail safe against illegal copying... Paranoia must run really deep at metro!

I doubt that is metro paranoia and more like the movie studios paranoia. Take into account that metro must obtain a liscence for every single copy of iron man they distribute. Compare it to any digitally downloaded video rental/purchase and see how those videos will only play on the device that downloaded them. But I wouldn't mind being able to pull out the movie from my phone and watching it on a bigger screen as the quality isn't that bad.

You can always re install metro movie player.apk on the rom. If you still have the iron man folder (video.sv or something like that) on your sd card.

As for those trying to play the file, if you're on linux, trying removing the file extension, open a terminal, browse to the location of the file, and type: "file thenameofthefilehere" and it'll tell you what type of file it really is, if it's any recognizeable file type.
I'd do it, but I already deleted the movie on my sd card, since I no longer need it.
