whats the point of a headphone jack

if the phone still plays out of its external speaker when headphones are plugged in?


am i missing something? is my phone defective? when i plug in headphones the phone plays through the headphones and the external speaker

it seems like an issue. mine also does not do that. this is the first time anyone has mentioned that here.

Try pushing the headphones all the way in until they click. Obvious I know but maybe...

Can you guys do me a favor, try plugging in a set of headphones and then change your ring tone...see if the ring tone plays out of the speaker. my music plays through the headphones only when plugged in, but the ringtones play through both when i try to set one

You can sort of understand why the ringtone is still played through the speaker, in case you leave headphones plugged in and then you'd not hear it.

So yes, with headphones in, the ringtone is played through the speaker too.
