Droid X - One Year Later

I can't wait until March....not really because i'll be available for an upgrade as i plan to just pay full retail for my next device anyways....but mainly so we can just see what all shakes out in the android world in the next six months...too many damn unknowns...

When and on What will ICS debut on?
When, what carrier, what manufacturer will do the next Nexus device
What is Moto going to do
Is HTC going to put out a phone that has a decent battery in it?
Is the SGS2 going to become a reality for VZW?

...just too many.

March is a good upgrade time. CES 2012 is in January. I'm sure there will be some high end equipment being demoed there. Probably things that will make the Bionic and SGII look pale.

I assume ICS will debut on the Nexus Prime. The Nexus is intriguing for me. Assuming a Dec. 2011 release date, I would definitely consider it come March 2012.

Unless Moto really does something substantial, I am done with them. Too many problems that shouldn't be happening. And my last 4 phones have all been Motorola. Time to see what else is out there.

I wonder, with the HTC lawsuits against Apple, is HTC going to be importing any phones at all? There is always a slim chance of that happening.

The SGII is also looking good. Unless something else comes along, which I am sure it will by March 2012.

Since when did a "bright spot" that almost no one can tell might be there considered a design defect?

I can't really see it on mine, but with how many times I've put the squeeze on that poor LCD playing angry birds, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm actually more surprised that I haven't cracked the LCD by now.

I've experienced almost nothing that you describe, and certainly not at the level you are describing. Rebooting the phone multiple times a day, pizza stone heat, bluetooth issues, airplane mode? Nope, all have worked fine on mine. I'm on my original from launch day.

Not to say you aren't experiencing those issues, but keep in mind that if it was so common, Verizon wouldn't be selling this phone.

Apple has had it's share of design defects (antenna, proximity sensor) and quality issues (blotchy screens and yellowing areas) too.

FWIW, a coworker was on his 5th Incredible when he exchanged it for a DX. He's much happier with the DX. See, anyone can have different opinions.

that really isn't a factor to me because we all know that phones that are debuted at CES rarely ever makes it out on time...ie...Thunderbolt...Bionic....

I'm hoping that by March the SGS2 , Bionic, a new HTC device, and possibly the Nexus will all be out by then and by then also we should be able to see what kind of dev support those phones are going to get. That is a big factor for me. I don't want a phone that is a red headed stepchild ala DX2

verizon isnt getting the sgs2, its not on the vzw roadmap, however hopefully it will get there one day, but possibly after the nexus 3 then whats the point of the sgs2, it seems as if verizon doesnt care for droid anymore, and wants to adopt iphone 100% now :(

it is looking that way isn't it. For sh*ts and grins i went back in time the other day to watch the media hype teaser commercials of last year when the DX came out. Remember how awesome all of that hype was.....it's starting to look like we will never see that kind of hype again.

...however hasn't it been decided that the next Nexus device will be on AT&T?

...op sorry for hijacking your thread.
