Replacement Calendar App

I did search arround and did not find an actuall app. Like for example handecent sms that completely replaces the std text app and add functionality. All Ive found is widgets and basically all they add is looks and shortcuts. I would like a week view, with hour by hour rows, more options on the add new screen, etc.

Anything else??

I have not found any new calendar application that works with google.

I tried Touchdown, but it is exchange only. It looks pretty slick but only does exchange email and calendaring and tasks.

The default android calendar application is awful. You can't set the day start time, you can't set the default start mode (starts in month or day apparently randomly). You can't use goto a date other than today. You navigate day/ weeks by LR swipes, but months by up/down, and no way to change years easily in month mode (should LR for month UD for year). The defaults on Droid leave tons of space wasted in day mode. Total garbage, IMHO.

I posted bug reports / enhancement requests here but it appears nothing is going on. At least nobody posted a comment. Feel free to follow that link and hit the star to vote for those enhancements, but I doubt it will help after so many months.

I also wrote the Touchdown folks begging them to release a googlecalendar calendar replacement.

Update: The Touchdown folks actually responded! They said google does not have a published interface like exchange. I pointed them to the google API that I knew about, so maybe they can do something.

They did say you can enable activesync with google calendar. I may try that, since we are a MS shop here. Sounds sketchy. Droid default calendar event syncs with Google Calendar which syncs with my Exchange server which syncs with the Touchdown calendar? Could that even work?

It's small but readable. I've attached a screen shot of that view from my VGA-display Windows Mobile phone. (Sorry about the rotation and the downgraded resolution; this forum has rather draconian limits on file and image sizes, and this was the most it would allow me to attach.)

I forgot that the Nexus One doesn't have a stylus, so forget about navigating to the specific day from this view; I'll settle for getting to the right month and then picking the day from the month view.

I just want a week view again. I had one on my Palm device with a 320x320 screen. I had one on my WinMo device with a 240x320 screen. Why, why can I not get one with an Android device with 320x480 -plenty of pixels to play with.
You should upgrade to a droid. It has week view, but in general the calendar application is pretty worthless.

I wish they would just port the palm calendar application. It actually worked fine. Set day start time and default view, goto date, month navigation worked.

The droid developers appear to let the PIM functionality languish for some reason...

Well, I need to keep Google Calendar and my Outlook calendar synced. The google sync application has issues with repeated events, but I found that Calgoo Connect (Free) seems to work fine. Same idea, you run it on your PC and it syncs your Google Calendar with your Outlook calendar periodically. It handles repeated events with modification fine for me, as well as edits to events.

The more I use touchdown, the more I realize that it is a really solid piece of work. Well worth $20.

They have options to change the calendar zoom! So you can get bigger fonts and fewer hours if you want (nice for droid to go from 15 hours to 11 or 12 or even fewer if you work less :) )

It does push nicely. Email on my exchange server appears instantly, same with modification to my calendar in outlook.

It has a lot of customization in the interface that google apps seem to lack. Like turning off delete confirmation, or opening next email in a series.

It handles tasks as well! This is a weaknes, and it may be due to Outlook. I have not figured out how to get categories and a wider range of priorities for tasks, but at least they are integrated. The base view in Touchdown shows your meetings for the day and relevent tasks, as well as unread email. Just about perfect!

Generally, I am really happy with the Touchdown + Calgoo combination for email + calendar. Try it out if you are stuck working with Outlook!

I have the droid and the stock google calendar has day view, week view, month view and agenda view. So not sure what else they are looking for. It actually almost looks the same as my exchange calendar on the droid and my old blackberry.

Bump! I Hate the calendar and there is NO OTHER OPTION. I have been looking all over. I am a working professional and would pay $5 bucks even for the damn thing (Which is rediculous). I mean come on people. I just upgraded a phones OS from 2.0 to 2.0.1 to bugless beast 2.0.1 to 2.1. I have a phone with animated backgrounds. I have a phone with all kindsa neat gadgety stuff on it. BUT, I have a phone thats basically a business paperweight because it cannot perform the simple task of managing my calendar. Something MS office has been doing for 15 years. This is not a new concept. If they (google) even copied windows mobile OS Calendar they would be lightyears ahead in the calendar game and what does that tell you???

PLEASE!!!!!

I don't know if you are still looking but I have taken the original calendar app and started working with it.
