Help Last important unsolvable bug (for me at least). Three buttons not working!

I own an galaxy for a few months now and most of the problems with this phone have already been solved by firmware updates, with tips from people in this forum, or with simple workarounds I found (like some free/paid apps).

However, there are a number of issues left (that I can live with) but there is one very annoying problem that need fixing without selling the phone: most of the time 3 of the buttons are not working: menu, home and dial ("green" button).

The problem seems to be related to the lock button somehow. Sometimes after I lock the phone, a few seconds later the screen turns on buy itself and remain that way (screen on but locked). I need to press the lock button again to turn it off, or unlock and lock again. After that, my buttons stop working. From time to time they start working again and I noticed that in most cases this happens after I receive a call (but not every time).
I tried to find an workaround to this problem using "lockbot free" but that is fixing half the problem. After locking the screen it turns on by itself every 2 minutes but at least if I don't unlock it will turn off after 1 min (or whatever timer I set for "screen timeout"). I noticed that this happens only when my buttons are not working so is definitely related.
I believe something is waking my phone after my buttons stop working but only from time to time.

This problem manifested with every firmware so far: IH7 (original), II5 (from NPC), IK5 (with odin). I skipped IK4. I did "factory data reset" every time after fw upgrade.
I'm not willing to flash galaxo/galaxhero fw on my phone. There are simply to many thing that can go wrong and I cannot afford to brick the phone.
I am willing to flash mustymod's "eclair" because using Odin seems to be much safer but that fw is by no means (fully) functional (yet).

Thanks in advance for any tip or suggestion!

seeing as how it has occurred on every firmware you've tried, i'd say it's probably a hardware fault (bad connection of the lock button?)

I sure hope not!
In order to return the phone for repair/replace I would need to put back II5 with CSC from Bouygues Telecom France (this is the latest oficial NPC update) and I don't have it anymore (I did not backup and erased cache.img from IK5 package before upgrade). Lame, I know.

, that's exactly what I was thinking after reading mrqs's message :)

Just now I installed "spareparts" and I found an interesting function called "end button behavior" which can be configured as "go to home screen" (only android 1.5). So I may be able to replace "home" button when it will stop working (right now it's working properly).
But the "menu" button is another story :(

You might be right, I can't tell for sure if this is the problem but my camera button does not really work. I mean not properly. It's hard to explain...it does not have a "click" as all other buttons do and is squeaky. I need to press it real hard to actually open the camera aplication and some times it needs several tries.

But if it was stuck, isn't this mean that the camera aplication should start by itself when the phone is unlocked?

checkl that the camera button isnt stuck down at all. it can cause this issue

The good: OK, it's confirmed!!!! THIS IS THE PROBLEM!!! :)
The bad: Now I have to live (at least) 2 weeks without my phone (as I don't have any other choise but to send for repair) :(

I was able to reproduce the "bug": using my fingernails I pull it up (the camera button) and all buttons start working. And the other way around it's also true: pressing the button halfway it's causing it to stuck and of course menu/home/dial buttons stop working.

Thank you so much!!
