Went to Verizon yesterday (August 4, 2011) to take my mom's Fascinate (which has been a piece of crap from the beginning) to get it upgraded to the Charge, X2 or Inc 2. When I arrived to the store I told them her phone has problems: when she calls people can't hear here or she can't hear them, texts either go a day later than supposed to or go to a completely different person and the battery life blows. After talking to the people at VZW for a while they asked if I had gotten a software update on the phone I told them yes and that my mom took it in store to do it because it was not working for her. After me Hard Factory Reseting it and the people at the store doing it 2 or 3 times the phone eventually went to a black screen and kept force closing TW launcher, android processes, and some other stuff over and over. Verizon's only solution was to send me a replacement Fascinate. At that point I told them I knew they were giving upgrades to the Charge, X2 or Inc 2 and that I did not want to be sent another crappy Fascinate. They lady there said that they never were doing that and that she didn't even have that as an option on the computer. After arguing with her for 15 minutes she finally went to the back to get help from the Tech guy to fix the Fascinate and then talked to the Manager and he told her that offer has expired. So I left the store. After leaving the store and not believing the people there I called Customer Support and they transferred me to Tech Support and they also said all they could do was send me a replacement Fascinate and if the same thing happens they would send me a different phone.
So long story short they no longer are giving you the choice of upgrading to the Charge, X2 or Inc 2.
Also they overnighted the phone so I got it today and as soon as I turned it on and hooked it up for my mom it wanted to do a software update. Looking forward to this piece of junk messing up again
