Ok Folks , its time to kick start a new wish list for the shiny new OS and one of the things in top list is being able to watch my TV on my slingplayer
So if anyone is is reading this . Please lets try to show some support by feeding this thread with Info , and sending sling media requests for this ASAP

Thanks

I would recommend shooting an email to slingbox themselves. They have pretty much released software for windows mobile, blackberry, Iphone???....Im sure they would at least look into releasing a version for android.

Don't have it for iPhone or BlackBerry, just WM/Palm/Symbian... but I've already requested it for Android.

Edit: According to MegaZone, Sling Media employee:
"Nothing to announce yet, but we're definitely looking at the platform. I'm likely going to Android too, I've been lobbying for it to be our next platform. (After BlackBerry and iPhone, which are already in the pipeline.)"

This will be a VERY important piece of the puzzle for the Android OS to become the anti-iPhone and anti-BlackBerry!

I currently have two SlingBox's at home. When I had a phone that used Windows Mobile, I was able to stream to that phone and LOVED it! However, the phone started developing issues: lagging, poor battery life, crashing, etc. (common with the WM phones). So I decided to go the BlackBerry route. No streaming on BB's OS until ver. 6 or higher come out!!! I also found that the BB's OS layout wasn't as polished as Windows Mobile(i.e. too many menus to do the same thing. Very confusing.)

Enter the Android OS. Being an Open Platform, the Android has a really good chance to leapfrog the iPhone and BlackBerry OS's because there will be no limit or bottle-neck in the developement of Android apps. I, for one, can't wait because I loved "slinging" to my handset and reallly miss it!

Let's hope this movementpicks up steam!

SELL YOUR SLINGBOXES cause they're NOT going to support ANDROID !!!!!! Here's the message I got from SlingMedia Support when I asked the question....How sad !!!

Thank you for contacting Sling Media Technical Support.

As we understand, you want to know if the Slingbox will support the Android Mobile devices any time soon. We will be more than willing to assist you.

Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux operating system, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google-developed Java libraries, but does not support programs developed in native code.

Most of the supported cell phones run on Windows OS. Since Android runs on Linux OS, it is not compatible with the SlingPlayer. Therefore, Slingbox will not support it and we do not know if it will be supported any time soon.

If you require further assistance, feel free to visit Sling Media Support - Support or contact us at 1-877-GO-SLING (877-467-5464) Monday through Sunday 7am-7pm Pacific Time.

Price wise, I always thought the client was over priced for smartphones (when it's free for PCs). That said, now that I am finally moving to a smartphone next week (Droid), I will happily pay the price they are asking when this app is released...I will use it mostly for sporting events and such. Like if I am at work, I can (but don't) use slingplayer because we have a pretty slow internet connection and while the video looks fine on my computer, it lags the internet in the building at times. (I work for a non profit, and I think we only have a 3 meg line, that also supports our phone system)...

So to be able to just throw the phone on my desk and have sling on my Droid would be great...
