Help How do you clear EMAIL history?

I was composing an email and typed "jon" for my brother, but it brought up this dude who I used to work with and it almost inserted his email address. I deleted that guy from my EVO and it shows up as "HISTORY". I NEVER want to send an email to that person, so I DO NOT want the EVO to suggest his name from some "history" file. I have looked around but do not know how to clear out the email history list.

Can someone please let me know how to do that? Sending an accidental email to folks that I have erased from my EVO would be not good.

TIA

I too have that issue and would like to clear the history of email addresses.

The only thing I could imagine is draconian - delete the account, goto Application Management, delete the data for app - and then setup the account and sync all over again.

I know from experience that it certainly causes GMail to loose all history.

Draconian and a PITA - but after several days with no takers for ya, that's all I got.

Open app drawer, click on people, menu, view, uncheck show auto gmail contacts. If you do not see that option ur phone software or gmail is not current and you need to update. Anytime you send an email from gmail web browser or from the phone gmail stores the addy (at the server)
Most other popular email clients offer the option to turn it off. Gmail has not yet and every email you send to is automatically added to your address book. The problem with clearing data is that once synced again it just pulls that info from the address book on the server

menu
settings
Applications
manage applications
running
mail -> clear data
ok

after you do this, it deletes the mail application data and history. you can then set up the mail account again. it will remember your email address but not your pw and history and then verify that it removed the address by composing a new email and typing the incorrect address but NOT hitting enter.

things in your email should be clear at this point.

hope this helps
