I installed OpenHome earlier tonight and it seems pretty nice. It is definitely something cool to try if you are getting a bit bored with sense like I was. The phone seems a bit snappier with it running to, kinda like if you run the stock android home app. It even has a built in memory optimizer and the skins you can download are pretty decent. Just a heads up for those of you who might be thinking about trying it.

Well I see this thread is getting lots of interest. Just an update if anyone reads this my awake time has dropped substantially using this over sense. I am now able to get 1% after the phone has been idle for a few hours since boot with Sense I was always anywhere from between 5 to 10 percent.

Been fiddlin' around with this app but can live without it... can't seem to figure out how to uninstall it though. Any info on that?

should be able to go to settings>apps>manage apps>click the app>uninstall.

i use open home with the htc hero theme still get the 7 screens but not the annoying "phone" button at the bottom

i might try ahome, i tried open home the other day, wasn't too impressed. sense is really hard to beat IMO

ok my suggestion if you MUST replace sense, dxtop....

"but why?"

well....

PROS

1. it's like bettercut, but better*
2. it gives you 2 drawers at the bottom, 1 for apps, 1 for processes running...very nifty to see a quick shot of what is going on
3. it has a nice lockscreen built in if you dont use lockbot
4. theres lots of themes
5. it has a built in screenshot taker...nice
6. i like the 4 screens left, right, top, bottom
7. you can go landscape on your homescreen...sweet
8. got lots of options to tweak...i like options

*you know the pesky bettercut bug where the mail icon goes back to default? it sticks with dxtop, and you can long press anything on homescreen and release, and it ask if you want to change the icon...werd. You also can pick icons from any icon pack you get from the market.

CONS

1. widgets, no sense widgets, and only other built in widgets are clock, search, and picture frame (all like android equiv.)
2. a little laggy, but not bad, i can tolerate it
