3500MAH HTC Evo 3D Battery Review

Sry Tyler, don't have a scale precise enough to measure weight. And you're absolutely right, accessoryswamp did offer prompt and excellent customer service in replacing the battery cover. Ive read good things about gorillagadgets customer service as well, but never purchased anything from them, so couldn't say firsthand. My recommendation in choosing gorillagadgets over accessoryswamp is assuming their battery is of equal caliber to accessoryswamps, but considerably cheaper...estimation of how their performances stack up is pure speculation....I've got enough batteries to go meet my needs, so ill let someone else make that performance comparison.
Also, to be clear, all of my posted results are with stock android and sense running, no root or apps like juice defender to distort results. But I did download the free version of juice defender today out if curiosity so any results I post from herein should take that into consideration.
I also forgot to clarify, in comparing seidio vs accessorswamp (and by default, gorillagadgets since they use same cover) regarding their covers, I prefer the feel of AS/GG (ridged), but i prefer the seidio covers geometry/shape (curved and symmetrical instead of just sticking out on the bottom). If any company could combine the shape of the seidio cover with the feel if AS/GG, that, imo, would be the "perfect" cover.

Now someone please tell me which seidio case (active vs surface) to get since those currently seem to be my only choices lol!

I just ordered the $28 one from Gorilla Gadgets. I was gonna get the $14 one but decided to splurge & I like the GG back replacement better. I hope there isn't a difference between the 3400mah & 3500mah battery. I can't promise a review because my phone use is very erratic. I once had the stock battery last 19 hours but the other day during my NFL draft, it lasted about 5 because I was using 4G to look up player stats lol.

Oh, you've never purchased from Gorilla Gadgets? I was under the impression you already had purchased from them... So all your opinions in regards to accessoryswamp vs. Gorilla Gadgets is all speculation?

To me, it just sounds like Gorilla's marketing on the Evo 4G has you.

I'm looking for more facts than on these batteries... I think we need someone who has purchased a Gorilla battery to post on here...

Right now, it seems if you want a monster of a battery, spend the 80 bucks for the Seidio 4000mah, if you want a quality cost effective battery, Accessory Swamp is where it's at.

I've been on my $15 3500 mah battery from Hand Held Items for almost 36 hours and I'm only at 30%. That's with above average use. I like this battery door better than the others too. I think this battery is normally like $40 though, I got mine on sale.

If I decide to purchase an extended battery for my evo 3d, I will purchase it from Gorilla Gadgets. I purchased several things from them for my Evo 4g, including their extended battery. Worked great and their customer service is awesome! :)

if you do, could you post photos and write a review here?

Ok so I thought I post my review of my GG 3400 battery. Placed it in my phone as soon as I got it and showed 75%. Played with it for a while that day left it off the charger over night. The next day I used it moderately. By the time I was headed to bed the battery was still at 15% and I had to run it down with mario live wall paper to get it to shut off. Charged it over night. That was yesterday morning and after moderate use today the battery indicator is showing 28% charge left. Time on battery shows 1d 10h 43m 33s on battery. I like the feel of the back cover. The back plate doesn't seem to attach flush on the side of the phone with the micro sd port but I opened a ticket and received a response within a day stating they were sending out a replacement cover. This was an awesome buy with a company that has great customer service.

As of now we don't have one in the pipeline. We'll wait and see how the sales go before we decide(2 to 3 months). Also our back plate will be different form the JDX one so it is unlikely that any case we make would fit with the JDX backplate. If the sales numbers are good we will probably go with something similar to the Seidio offerings of a case - belt clip combo.

If you made a backplate with a kickstand you'd sell the SH** out of it, just saying... lol, im really tempted to buy the battery looks coolio :D

I would like to know if it is awkward holding the phone with the hump on the back. I like the back on the Seidio, but I am not willing or able to pay that kind of money.

I have the one from Gorilla Gadgets, (same backplate, 1/2 the price, 3400mah) & it's not awkward when I hold it but it adds a noticable amount of weight. When I'm on the phone I place my pinky under the bottom of the phone & I really noticed the difference. It's something you'll get used to. The top half of the backplate (where the camera lenses are) is the same size as the orginal & the battery/bottom half of the back plate rests in your palm, which IMO feels a lil more comfortable.

I purchased the new 4000mah battery from seidio, it suppose to b here today 8/26/11, now i will honestly let u guys know on battery life I am a heavy user, so if this is sh*t I will let u guys know, b/c I am unsure of a moderate user, like I said I'm going to test this thing out for-real. I don't like the back door on the seidio, but i want a battery with a lot of power, so i hope this is it, I will keep u posted. If there r heavy users that use the gorillagadget battery or the swamp battery with the 3500mah battery I would like to know how it hold up ( with heavy usage). I use heavy phone, data, txt, email, navigation, Pandora, Qik/Tango both, take pics, and shoot video, so i mean heavy. So far no one seem to be heavy users, anyway I will let u guys know.

I just wanted to say, everyone posts r very helpful, but can someone test heavy usage on swamp or gorillagadget 3500mah please, b/c I like the back door on that better

My 3500 mah battery from Hand Held Items last all day with about 25% left before I throw it on the charger at night. I would say I'm a moderate to heavy user. Hope this helps.

Got the 3400mah from GG yesterday around 12pm, charged to 100% around 4pm, took it off the charger at 5. My definition of heavy might be different from yours but this is what I've done since I've been off charger & this is on the edge of light/moderate for me & is not in order of occurance

About 45 min worth of calls, 26 text messages

On 3G- currently playing 3 games of Words w/ Friends

On 4G- 2 hrs of ESPN Mobile, a couple of youtube vids, 8 min total, downloaded MusicJunk & Mazeoid & a couple more apps that Titianium Backup couldn't restore since I flashed CleanRom the other day.

On WF- 3 full games of Words w/ Friends, about 8 min of vids on WorldStar Hiphop.com, updated Daily News & USA today app

While on the train, no service, forgot to put on airplane mode (yesterday afternoon & this morning) Played about 30 min of Homerun Battle 3D, about 10 min of Death Worm, 5 min of FRG Deluxe & about 10 min of Phit Droid 2, read a bunch of articles from the papers

Last night before I went to bed, my battery was at 60% left the Wifi on (I know wifi shuts off when the screen is off but thought I'd mention it) when I woke up, it was still at 60%

Also, I update my emails my self maybe 4 times a day, I have twitter & facebook linked with my Friends widget (Launcher Pro) & they update every 3 hrs. Weather widget updates every 3 hrs, not sure how often Scorecenter app updates, CNN app also running. I have background data checked but not auto sync. I'm activating both after my 2nd full charge & changing my updates to 1 hr.

I have the live thunderstorm wallpaper, lightening flashes every 10 seconds when the screen is on & when I touch it. My screen times out after 10 minutes because I love looking at it so that's 60 flashes before it times out. Screen is on autobrightness. Hope this helps.

I haven't configured the battery & this is still after my first full charge. Haven't over/underclocked yet.

2011-08-26_12-08-11.jpg

Blue tooth after Homerun Battle at 1%, I dont even use blue tooth

Don't know why all the other stuff I played didn't show up but whatever...

I ordered the Seidio 4000ma extended battery and used it for a trip I took out West. I'm returning it tomorrow. I had the 3500ma EVO4G battery and was very happy with it, but the EVO3D 4000ma battery feels like it was rushed out by comparison. The back cover feels cheap, and as someone else noted on this thread it makes the power button difficult to push...I was constantly wrestling with it. Worse, the case is IMPOSSIBLE to get off once it's on...I couldn't do it with my nail, I had to pry it off using a dime when I needed to to a battery pull, which wound up marring the finish on the phone. Worse still, the battery tended to overheat a lot, and generated quite high temperatures...114 degrees threw the phone into a constant reboot cycle. I have several Seidio cases and batteries, this is the first dud, but it's a big one...not recommended! I will wait and see, the other third-party batteries mentioned on this thread look promising.

I have both of the batteries you mentioned, and yeah the backing for the 4G was a bit easier to get off, but after doing a bunch of battery pulls today I've gotten better at it. I don't think it feels cheap at all IMO. I do have some overheating problems but that's only been when I've been outside in 100+ degree weather, so that might not have been the battery. I still recommend this product.

I purchased the 3500 from Accessory Swamp. It worked great for 4 or 5 days but then started to randomly turn the phone off with no notice. A couple of times the phone would not power on without a re-seat of the battery which caused the case to crack a bit next to the power button due to the constant removing of the cover. I finally switched back to the original battery and all problems have vanished.

Now I would like to return this, but I now see that the return policy requires that you send it back in original packaging so they may re-sell the product, so $40 lesson learned I guess. I've now ordered the Gorilla Gadgets battery, so we'll see how that one works.

Bottom line: Keep your packaging for 30 days just in case.

I apologize about that! You can also get a replacement battery, feel free to PM me and we can start the process.

Having the same problem with my GG case being cracked near the power button & because the case isn't flush with the phone most of the time I hit the home button I'm taking screenshots or I'm getting the shutdown menu. Also had issues when going into recovery & the power button choosing a menu for me. I'm gonna contact GG about a new case. FWIW, after the battery died Friday afternoon I only charged it once since (Friday night when I got home) but that was because I was stuck in the house all weekend due to the storm so I didn't use the phone.

my phone does that even with the OEM battery... i think it's a glitch in the phone... my evo 4g did the same thing with the seidio battery...
