I can delete email from EVO and that also deletes emails from my server = great!

But this is what I want to do:
1. Delete email from server using my desktop browser/outlook/etc (not from EVO).
2. Hit refresh on the EVO
3. EVO updates to no longer show messages that I deleted off the server

Does anyone know if this is a possibility?

I am using the HTC Email app with Hotmail.

Thanks!

I would like the same thing but all I read online says you can't do this since Hotmail uses pop3 so the emails just download to your phone, they don't sync. Thats the one thing I miss from WinMo the most was the windows live application. I use my own domain with office live and being able to sync is great instead of getting and reading messages all day on my phone and then getting to the computer and seeing everything still marked as unread. IIRC it does the same thing if you setup your account with outlook when I used to use that as well, very annoying.

had this same problem using gmail, deleted about 200 messages on my EVO, went to my laptop opened gmail and same messages had been deleted.

i would like to keep my messages on my laptop email after i delete from EVO. is this possible w/ gmail on EVO?

All you need to do is open your email, click on Menu, then click on More, then Settings, then Send & Receive, turn Delete mail on server off

i followed the above but when i get into settings there is no button or option for send & receive. i have signature, confirm delete, batch operations, clear search history, labels, email notifications, ringtone, and vibrate.

where's the send & receive?

There are 2 mail apps. GMAIL app and MAIL app. He is talking about the MAIL app where you find those settings. Though if you used the GMAIL app which it looks like you did you wont have those settings. I cant figure out how to turn that off either unless you use the MAIL app but the MAIL app does not "PUSH" email it seems lke the GMAIL app does.

Has anybody figured this out yet? What I want is when I read email on my computer server and it is then no longer marked as unread, I want it to be the same on my phone -- marked as read. I am using a Yahoo-based email. Is this at all possible? I hate having all my emails on my phone appearing as if they unread and don't want to have to read them all also on phone. This wasn't a problem on the Pre.

so I deleted my emails from the server and they still show up in the list on my evo. when I select them though I can't delete or view the emails from my evo as they are no longer available on the server and have been deleted from my phone even though they show up on the list . Also, when I hit delete they don't show up, but when I get back to my inbox there they are? it is as if they are synching but failing to complete the action. Any thoughts?

I'd also like to adjust the settings on how far back emails are retrieved from the server in the Gmail app. Any ideas?

It's annoying that an Android phone has more limited functionality with Gmail than with other mail. Ridiculous.

You need to try setting up your Gmail through the mail app, not the Gmail app. This will let you set more options on how many emails you want to sync.
