Help Text Messages Appear Out of order

I am wondering if anyone has a similar issue as this:

This doesn't always happen but does frequently. The scenario is described below.

When I first text someone, and they text me back and then I text them back, the exchange of texts appears in order of sent/received just like a conversation. But, after they text me back the second time, ALL of their texts appear above all of my texts. In other words, their incoming texts take the top half of the screen and mine take the bottom half. So I have to end up scrolling up to see their latest text.

Anyone have/had a similar issue and is there a setting for this?

Does the time of the text appear as though it came from the future? For instance, if it's 9:00 am when you actually receive the text, does it say that it was received at a later time, like 1:00 pm??

I've had this happen to me... I think I have it pegged to one of the following:

1. When your phone is roaming (not connect to Sprint towers)
2. When the person sending is roaming.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue and it is SOOO annoying. I've missed out on texts and had a few other items as result. People will always be roaming. What is the fix for this? I never had this issue with ANY phone until I got the hero

not only that, but i am also having trouble with attached pictures not opening correctly. I can see where someone texted me a pic, but to the right it will say download and when i select that it doesnt do anything. This started happening to me about 3 or 4 days ago along with the text being out of order as mentioned above. Sometimes but not all the time. Could this be a sprint problem or hero specific?? Anyone?

You will only be able to download pictures if you are on the 3G service. Even if you are connected to WIFI, it will not work (from my experience, anyway.)

But I believe that the incorrectly timed texts is a network issue, not a Hero issue.

I do not know of a fix, but it happens so infrequently with me that I don't mind. If it happened ALL the time, I'd be a little agitated.

I believe this has something to do with the tower you're connected to, network latency, and the internal clocks in the towers or something along those lines.

When I'm in my home, the message consistently appear out of order if I reply immediately. They always show up above the previous text that arrived. If I wait 2-3 minutes before replying, they show up in the correct order. I think the messages are arriving with a timestamp later than it actually is.

When I'm 45 minutes away at work, i have no issues with this at all. Everything works perfectly all the time.

I installed Handcent to use for SMS messages and it seems to solve the problem. I think it simply displays the messages in the order it gets or sends them and doesnt care about the timestamp.

I just did a search on Google and found this thread. I just switched to an Evo 3 weeks ago and If I send 50 text, only a good 5 are in order. Every single text I receive shows a time in the future so all of my replies show as past replies so even though I text last there text still shows as the newest. Its very very weird. I've tried doing so much and I can't fix it. I had my Hero for over a year and never once had the problem.

My issue was resolved the same as the WISKIDs. Incoming messages were on the top of the conversation window and my outgoing messages were on the bottom of the conversation window. I noted the times and the incoming messages were coming in on the wrong date. When I changed the network setting under Settings > Date and Time to use the network-provided time all new messages were sorted properly.

I had a similar problem with receiving text messages out of order. I resolved the problem by going to Settings | Date & Time | choosing "Automatic" to use network provided values. I believe now my phone's clock is being set by the network which is in better sync with world time than is my phone's internal timing unit. After choosing "Automatic," I haven't had any problem with receiving text messages out of order.

yup i think that solve my problem too...i usually have spare battery for my phone and sometime i have to turn off my phone to change the battery, that happen if i cant able to charge my phone elsewhere when i travel..so i think that cause time & date on my phone to reset in default when turning off the phone and start having my messages out of sequence...solution is just simply fix time & date to latest time =)..

I had the same problem after resetting my phone, all text appeared in order by contact name n my name n not like chatting order. How I fixed this was, maybe will work for u all of at least try if ur still having issues cause it worked for me.

Open text message
Edit button, most bottom left button, looks like form w lines
Select setting
Make sure delete old messages is checked
Input mode, select GSM alphabet

Test by texting ur family n friends n it should b in order like chatting k, good day.

Found the solution...and is not downloading a new app or say it is the way it is.
This is caused by your phone where the date/time is not in sync. Go to your settings and you will see that your date is off and even your time might be off as well. Fix it...then set to auto update your date/time.
Note: this will not fix your old messages...but it will fix any future messages.

I have an answer! I have been trying to figure this out since it was bugging the heck outta me. I would send a text they reply then I reply and it goes on top of theirs if i reply too soon. We'll I was able to fix this by making sure my clock settings were on automatic. I caught it when I noticed that the message I got was from the future according to my clock. Hope this helps.

I have the same issue... I think it has something to do with the phone message settings... for me it only occurs if both of the messages have the same time... If the person I am messaging gives me an immediate really and both messages have free same time... their message goes to the top of mine... still want to resolve this issue somehow tho... Will experiment and c if I can help

ow to fix the out of order text issue on Android:

Go to to your date and time settings under the general tab and make sure your auto date/time and automatic time zone are check ON.

What this does is ensure your phone (whether incoming or outgoing text/data) is receiving/using your phones local time stamp.

And thats it. Hope this helps.
