Help how to update phone OS?

I use mac os x lion and bought this phone and no it is not rooted. How do I officially update the OS when new updates become available to this phone?

Go to settings scroll down to the bottom and tap 'about phone'. at the very top of the menu that comes up there is one for 'system updates'. click that, and hit the 'check now' button. That will make it scan for any OTA (over the air) updates from your carrier.

Thanks. So I don't have to use any software (Kies) to update to new OS version, it can all be done OTA. I can do this through the network with my data plan and not use wifi, right?

Yes. It has to be done through your data. Wifi won't work. As to whether you get charged for that data (orbit uses your allowance) depends on your carrier.
