Help HTC Cha Cha Low Memory

Got this phone for my daughter a few weeks ago and she is already very fed up with it as it keeps showing a Low Memory Storage message and keeps asking her to remove things. It says it needs 512KB of space to receive messages. She has deleted all of her texts and moved what apps she can to her SD card.
She is very frustrated with the phone.
Please help

Right now there is very little that will help. The ChaCha has a pitiful amount of available memory for installing apps, and most of that gets taken up by Facebook and contacts. For a "social" device aimed at Facebookers it is a serious screw up by HTC. Until the ChaCha can be rooted, and if you feel comfortable doing that, there is little else you can do apart from clearing caches and uninstalling some apps.

Having spent nearly 20 minutes on the phone to Virgin techies I have solved my memory issue which is the same as your daughters. Still not happy about the size of memory but I've got rid of the message and now know what to do - i.e. housekeeping.

Go to settings and then into applications and then into manage applications. Basically you need to go into apps like facebook, twitter, google and choose clear data and this deletes all your browsing history. I got nearly 8mb of memory back.

If you clear data for your applications, it will also delete all you settings.

"E-mails" (version 3.1.211....) is using for exemple 6.25Mo of data (one exchange account) that I can't be free

Internet up to 6Mb. But same thing if you delete data you will lose your bookmarks

So there is a way to clean all the junk

I will provide more information later, but basicly, you need Titanium Backup
- No need to be root
You backup all your applications and data
do an hard reset
Restore all your stuff, and remove them to SD (the first time I tryed to move them to SD it failed for each one of them, and the second time it was always OK. I guess it's because the application was already present on my SD)

Thats not basic, and you need to pay attention to what you do, but after the process you got free memory (more than 40MB in my case)

ok, really need some help re this phone, i too bought my daughter one, and its dreadful, forever getting the memory full message, dont have a tech bone in my body, and have no idea what rooting is.... cant even down load a back up thingy for it! HELP! Seriously, i have a very unhappy 13 year old (come on the fact i have a 13 year old and havent commited murder/become an alcoholic must make you feel just a little bit sorry for me!) would really appreciate some non tech speak that i can follow!

Try Darktremor's A2SD! But you need to root it first. Here's how.

After few weeks only of being rooted with a lot of memory, I was back to the memory problem.... Only 5MB....., even with link2SD, and even without installing any application

Market/Play, Maps, you tube on SD (special link2SD ext2 partition)

So there is a udge problem..., not related to application but to that phone.

With an helpfull friend we looks for a big file and here it is, we (he ) found it.... thanks to ConnectBot

It's "some sort of debugger for HTC"

Mine, was close to 50MB......

So thanks to google [bug?] Data Partition slowly being eaten up! anr_history_txt

Uninstall updates for Facebook, the app takes up loads of internal memory.

Not only Facebook - I removed it, even from /system.

What about google maps, play (market) and that com.google.android.gms (Google Play Service).
This play service is using 7.49MB.
And each time I erase it, it's back.

I spending hours to move Play, Maps to /sytem/app
No very convenient for a regular facebook phone user
